“ah come on, you know that was a good one.”  he grabs his arm where alec punched him. there’s truly nothing better after kicking some demon ass than joking around with your parabatai. after the adrenaline, the knowledge that one of you may not make it back  — even the best worry about losing battles. but despite the deumas remains, alec is here and he’s safe and jace can finally breathe again. “i have not. but we could always order food, to be safe. i’d rather face a hoard of drevak demons than whatever izzy thinks can pass as dinner.”

ah, she sees then. magnus was clearly dealing with the breakup as well as it should be expected. “ shall we talk about it? or get the wine? or both?” tessa hadn’t been expecting this upon her reemergence from the spiral labyrinth. magnus had been happy with alec, the last time she’d received any answer from him. “ either or — just let me know. “ 

she stands at the threshold of his apartment door, grey eyes flitting back from the state of his apartment to the warlock himself.

“both.” with a sigh, magnus lets the smile fall. they know each other too well, have seen too much of each other for tessa to believe magnus’ carefully crafted persona. she could see the truth of him in a way very few could. he gestures for her to come in. “i apologize for the mess but i’ve been, well...”

the truth is, part of magnus has always envied tessa. he’s lived for centuries, searched far and wide  — and magnus bane has had great lovers, but never a great love. not the kind that brands the soul and burns itself into the heart. and yet tessa had found two in a single life time. magnus could think of no one more deserving of such a gift, but he couldn’t help but want a little bit of that for himself. and that’s where alec came in. with his blue eyes and that innocence so full of honesty, and that eagerness and kindness that made magnus’ heart soar. not like this. but of course, with great love comes great heartache. and no one knew that better than tessa gray.

he pours two glasses of wine and offers one to her before draping himself over the sofa. “i admit i may have been careless with my heart when it came to him. but you know me, i don’t know how to love halfway. and i really thought he felt the same and that would be enough to forget our differences.”

[ I saw a similar post going around for a specific fandom that’s blowing up right now, so here’s a version for ANY fandom to reblog! ]

There can be a nervous insecurity about seeing other people playing your same muse, whether you’re new to the fandom or been around awhile, and fear that you will be replaced by “a shiny new” version. That’s understandable. Fandom drama can be bypassed if we all appreciate each other’s version!
