{Thank you! We love some female presenting Crowley over here.}

crowleyraejepsen:
a slightly older fandom beef i have, which i think tbh is a pretty recent trend in gomens fic but, like, the last few years of book fandom recent rather than a Thing that blew up after the tv show so this is a much more lukewarm take, is i don’t get why people are into crowley forgetting heaven
i like the idea that he remembers it, that he remembers exactly why he made the choice to join the side he did and why he wanted to rebel in the first place and why, even after all that, he still trusts aziraphale in the garden. i’ll read stuff where he can’t remember, it’s chill, but i wish it got explored more
I’m right there with you. I like the idea that Crowley, and all the other demons tbh, remember heaven and remember how they ended up where they are. I feel like it provides more depth to the story on multiple levels.
On one hand, you’ve got God who is booting angels out of Heaven. If falling is meant to be punishment, then making those who fall forget both the grace of Heaven and why they fell seems pretty ineffective.
And then you’ve got demons on the other hand who are angry with Heaven and are wanting (and actively planning) to wage war. Sure, it could be argued that they’re mad that they were kicked out of heaven… but it just seems flimsy if that’s their only reason. But if they all remember their original motivations for rebelling, and are sticking to their guns in their judgement against Heaven, well that’s just great. The flames of that can be fanned by the bitterness of being kicked out of Heaven and forced to Hell for eternity.
And then there’s Crowley who has said that he only ever asked questions, that he hung around with the wrong people. And despite the fact that this got him kicked out of Heaven he never stopped asking questions. That just says so much about his character. And then he meets Aziraphale, who he takes a shine to immediately because in him he sees reflected that same doubt in the Almighty’s plan. Aziraphale is a kindred spirit, as much as Aziraphale may be loathe to admit it.
So aside from there being canon context clues implying that he remembers Heaven, I just really do think it adds so many more layers to the story when he remembers what was lost, and why he made the choices he made. And really, that’s what both Crowley and Good Omens as a whole are about - choices.
So give me a few seconds to ramble because it’s like 3 am.
But I like a kind of hybridization. Crowley remembers why they rebelled, but they don’t remember heaven. And it’s by their own choice. I imagine memories of heaven are rather painful (for lots of reason) and the choice to fall might have been an agonizing one. But they had to do it because they felt so strongly about this (usually that they should not love humanity above all else, though some I imagine fell for different reasons).
One of the important things to me is the Crowley chose to fall. I know he says that he hung around the wrong people & everything- but in the end, God doesn’t cast them from Heaven. There was no “war” in which angel vs angel and the losing side became the demon. God simply asked them all if they wanted to stay in Heaven and some of them (including Crowley) said no. And God would happily take them back, but they have their reasons for falling. And they aren’t going to give up so easily…but they let their memories of heaven fade because it’s easier on them. (Or perhaps they selectively remember- so they don’t start thinking the grass might be greener on the other side. They remembering asking their siblings if they would Fall with them, and how those who remained angels turned their backs to the Fallen, how the Fallen felt abandoned and betrayed even though it was their Choice.)
(It’s also why Aziraphale can get away with lying & going against the Great Plan. Because, if the end, Falling is a choice. God asks you if you want to fall, if you can bear Heaven no more- And Crowley said yes, they needed to fall. Aziraphale said no, they needed to stay.)
Anyways, I hope that made sense.

me shielding crowley: no please the only crime he has ever committed was stealing aziraphale’s heart
GOOD OMENS ‘SATURDAY MORNING FUNTIME’
iridanus:
“I’m here for books,” she declares and walks swiftly past him with the attitude of someone who still intends to be given attention. “I hear Mr. Fell has a new Bible Errata in stock.”
The priest is here for Aziraphale. Of course she is. “Sorry,” Crowley drawls, sprawling out on a stack of books that stays still under him because they should. “He’s not in. Therefore you can’t buy a Bible and everyone is all the more happier for it.” Aziraphale is quite proud of his incorrect Bible collection and Crowley is hardly going to let anyone else wander off with them.

By now, Freddie has been in this body long enough to master the eye roll, and she deploys it to great effect.
“I wanted to see if it’d be better*! And it was!”
Her voice is hoarse. She’d only barely stopped laughing, the wild, whooping kind that had started as a scream and descended into something more like a cackle. Her throat burns, and there are streaks on her face where the wind had forced tears from her eyes.
She looks ecstatic. Even Crowley’s frown only leads her to throw her arms around her mother.
“This was never going to kill me. At least not permanently. Heaven itself won’t let me die.”
*Better, that was, than flying in planes, which Freddie had taken to with all the aplomb one would expect from a ground vehicle suddenly propelled into the air. Falling, on the other hand, she managed just fine. With this in mind, she had future experiments planned involving unpowered gliders.
“I’d rather you not be at the mercy of Heaven. Gabriel might decide to bring you back an angel or something.” Her disgust is largely exaggerated. She doesn’t hate angels, but there are a couple who are quite annoying (Gabriel, for one). There would be no being kicked out of home, even if Freddie did decide being an angel was the way to go.
“Still, you’re going to make your old woman go grey. And then what? I’ll be the first demon to ever go grey, that’s what.” She does hold her daughter close though. As though she can protect her from jumping off the Grand Canyon. Crowley is tattling on Gabriel to Uriel tonight.
angelicdandy:
“Whipping the eggs you say? How intriguing. Humans never cease to amaze with their confectionery creativity.” He took another bite, closing his eyes as he let out a pleased hum– his mood lifting considerably now that he had a delightful snack to nosh on. The texture was fluffy and the sweetness was just right.
He paused, looking to the cake and then Crowley.
“Oh how inconsiderate of me– would you care for a taste?” He offered politely.
Crowley doesn’t bother to hide his smile as he leans back. “I’m good, angel.” He’s not as fond of food as Aziraphale is and knows it- no point in stealing some of the cake he is obviously enjoying. It’s more fun to watch him eat anyways.
“I’m sure if you asked, they’d let you watch. You’re one of their favorite customers.” Or Aziraphale could be. Really, it wouldn’t be that hard to nudge the universe around a bit. Everyone should love Aziraphale just a bit after all. “They might even let you sample a bit of everything.” Crowley simply wills himself a cup of coffee and takes a sip as Aziraphale enjoys his confection. Perhaps he should learn how to bake...
relictagratia:
Aziraphale would like to claim that he’d gotten over it. That a month was plenty of time, and he’d moved on, and done his job, and was doing just fine, because out of all people, it can’t be a demon that he’s caught up about. Oh…but finding the empty shot glass, traces of holy water left in it, a pile of Crowley’s clothes…He’d been gone for such a short time, and when he got back, Crowley was dead. The only thing he’d found nearby was a snake that resembled the form Crowley used to take, and he was utterly distraught over losing his closest friend, that he took the snake under his care. Armageddon came and went. Or rather, it happened, and nothing came of it. Adam restored the bookstore, but its not as if he could restore Crowley, so what was the point? Then, he found the snakeskin. The snake always managed to find a way out of its enclosure. Not that he minded. It reminded him all the more of Crowley and his wiles every time that happened. He picked up the snakeskin, but as he straightens up he spots a bare ass, and it startles him right back into dropping the snakeskin.
But then he recognizes who it is, and he gasps, a trembling hand covering his mouth. “C…Crowley?” Frozen limbs magically come to life as he rushes over to Crowley’s side, falling down to his knees. Arms wrap tightly around the demon, pulling him close to Aziraphale without preamble. “You’re alive. Oh thank the heavens, I-I can’t believe this,” his voice broke, trembles slipping in, words falling apart and sniffles fell into full blown tears. “You’re alive, Crowley.” He’d never been a very elegant crier.
Crowley was still very, very confused but he always hated Aziraphale being sad. So his hands carefully wrapped back around Aziraphale. “Shh, angel, I’ve got you.” He rubs what he hopes are comforting circles on his back and wonders if there’s something he can do... He wonders why Aziraphale is here, instead of off in Heaven preparing for the Apocalypse and striking down demons with angelic fury. He must’ve come over shortly after Crowley had taken his shot.
“Yes, I’m fine, Aziraphale.” Little cold but that should be an easy fix...he tries to miracle himself some clothes and pain blooms behind his eyes, causing his vision to grey out. Fuck, okay, not gonna try that for a bit. Must be a side effect of the holy water not killing him. “Just, perhaps, a little bit cold. How’s the Apocalypse going?” He’s not trying to be tone deaf but, he wants to know how long he can stay like this, happily curled in his angel’s arms.
angelicdandy:
“Oh! Crowley– I did not see you– no no, everything is quite alright.” His eyes would light up at the sight of the cake, however. Aziraphale loved cake. He happily busied himself with nibbling at it, using the plastic fork provided. A change of subject was in order.
“Is this from the bakery down the street? I must learn what they do to make their batter so fluffy.”
The thing is...Crowley doesn’t quite believe him. But for now, he’ll accept the convenient little excuse and see if he can sneak the truth out of Aziraphale later. Perhaps tempt his angel with a cup or two of delightful wine... “Yes, of course. Only the best for you.”
Are they really going to talk about cake? Probably. “I think they whip their egg whites. Pretty common way to make your batter lighter.”
angelicdandy:
pouts in angel.
Offers his angel some angel food cake and a worried look.
“Everything okay, angel?”
dontmesswithnerdangels:
Aziraphale frowned, looking back at his shop’s set-up. “Oh, I don’t know… There seems to be quite a market for trashy romance. I mean, look at some of the books they’re selling these days! Fifty Shades and Twilight and… Well. I was rather hoping the unknown would turn them away.” Besides, an angel had a certain reputation to uphold.
“Yes, yes,” Crowley waves his hand, “but if they find the books they’re looking for, then they won’t buy the real treasures, will they?” Crowley smiles at Aziraphale though, “Besides, you know humans. They less well known it is, the more curious they get...And then you have the book collectors who know what they want and wouldn’t dare step foot in a shop that sells Twilight. Bunch of snobs.” He doesn’t expect Aziraphale to take his suggestion. It’s not why he’s here, after all. He’s here to tempt his angel into a spot of lunch.
notevil:
“I love whales!” the bright smile upon his face is evidence enough of his joy. “Can we get some ice cream too?”
Crowley can’t help but smile back at the kid. “Yeah, we can get ice cream too. What flavor you want?” And of course, they’ll have to find a reptile house because obviously snakes are even cooler then whales.
queenprotector:
The scowl on Freddie’s face turns into a distinct look of determination, and they raise an eyebrow at Crowley in an eerily familiar way.
“I can and I’m gonna!”
And they’re no Antichrist, so technically what they will is not the way of the world. Thankfully. Less thankfully, they are a spoiled little thing, and well secure in the knowledge of having multiple celestial beings on their side.
And, as they slip their hand into Crowley’s and tug him towards the kitchen, complete confidence that he won’t actually say no.
Crowley sighs and wonders if he needs to chew out some archangels for spoiling his little girl. Again. One would think Gabriel would be better about the whole thing, but no they’re the worst of the bunch.
“You’re going to get sick and I’m not going to miracle it away, my little imp.” Though she hasn’t gotten sick yet, so he’s not looking forward to this first time at all.
We are an angel and a demon!
