Kodak Coquette Camera with matching lipstick and compact, 1930
I actually think all fairies are fat, in their natural habitat. The Irish used iron horseshoes to protect their milk and butter stashes from fairies bc they love cream so much. Cream and berries and honey and ale, all day every day. If you see a skinny fairy she is underfed, give her some sugar water like you would a tired bumblebee đ°
Amen đ I feel obligated to repost one of my fat fairy designs here bc that other post you rb'ed that prompted this pissed me off SO MUCH
when you go to a doctors office their favorite thing to do is tell you "okay check out at the front desk" when you're done. and the front desk tells you ummm you can just go! and you're like don't I have a copay? and they're like we don't know, we have to ask your insurance company first. and you're like well my insurance card says the copay is $30, can I just pay it right now while I'm standing in front of you? there's a card reader right there on the desk. and they're like nooo we have to send a representative on horseback during the next waning moon to meet with their claims adjusting associate director of benefits management and client services in the secret glade to negotiate. and you're like oh okay and go home. and you get twelve emails asking you to take a survey about your experience
AND THEN in eight months you start getting phone calls from unknown numbers and when you finally check your voicemail they're like Your Balance Is Past Due We're Going To Kill You (even though by this point you have forgotten that you ever went to the doctor). and so you go to your MyChart account and log in with your username and password and you have to reset your password for security reasons. and you get two emails that say Your Password Has Been Reset. Was This You? and you have to go find your phone and enter your two factor authentication code and then you have to select which location you visited and then you have to click through all the Reminder: Complete Your Health History Profile where they ask if you've had any new surgeries even though you definitely told the nurse about this at your visit and then you have to find the Pay Bills tab and your balance is $179.23 and you're like why is it so expensive I thought the copay was $30? and you download a PDF of the charges and find out that they charged a late fee of $15 a month even though that doesn't add up to $179.23 and you don't even remember being told you had any balance at any point and you could call a representative and ask about it but that would probably take at least half an hour and there's no way it would actually get rid of the charges. so you go pay it anyway and you have to go find a paper check to look up your bank account routing number because they'll charge you an extra 3% if you pay with a credit card and there's a fee of $2.75 for convenience also. and then you get three emails that say We've Received Your Payment! Thank You For Your Payment!
And next time you're there in person you're like please. Please. I'm begging you. can I just put a credit card on file. Can I just give it to you now and you just charge me whenever you want. It's actually kind of ruining my life how you do this to me. And they're like no we could never take responsibility for keeping track of your financial information that's too private
And then you schedule your follow up visit anyway
Of course i have to follow every step in this nightmarish process to interact with the labyrinthine bureaucracies of medicine and insurance. I have to do this every three months. I do this because I have ADHD, a condition which makes it hard for me to interact with labyrinthine bureaucracies unless I take Vyvanse. And if I do it wrong they'll stop letting me have Vyvanse, the medication which makes me capable of interacting with labyrinthine bureaucracies
ya'll who's up for group meowing
the aircraft emergency frequency (known as GUARD in the usa) is SUPPOSED to be used for emergencies. the frequency is 121.5 mhz. it is for all international air distress and emergencies and stuff (theres a different one for military)
however. for some goddamn reason. for at least the past ten years (maybe more) there has been meowing. random pilots going âmeowww!â on the emergency frequency. this is often followed by at least 8 different people yelling âGUARRRRDâ âYOUR ON GUARDâ âSTOP FUCKING MEOWINGâ and at least 3 others meowing also.
i have a radio and often tune into this frequency if i want to hear local airplane pilots/control tower operators act like absolute fools.
hereâs some operators using GUARD to try to contact a flight that went missing (they found them) and just the absolute nonsense, the one guy spamming caribbean music, the voice changer, and the meowing and guard police are so fucking funny. GUARD is always doing shit like this. its great. (note that he isnt on the frequency until 1:30, so the other shit is just normal coworker conversations. âwho the fuck eats honeydewâ is just two coworkers not abusing resources).
usually radio etiquette is a lot more professional for these guys but mistakes do happen. people tend to be pretty quick on the jokes tho. if you ever want to listen to the funniest shit ever a lot of amateur radio operators upload the funniest dialogue they catch on youtube pretty often.
@antifatemptress is this true?
Yes, unfortunately this is true. Pilots are children. And since we're all legally obligated to monitor guard at all times when able, these guys know they always have an audience. Things I've also heard on guard include:
âą someone barking, which was nice variety and very much appreciated to see more canine representation in my field
âą airline captains making full cabin announcements, not realizing they were transmitting, followed by several other pilots asking questions as if they were in the cabin
âą airline captain making about half a cabin announcement before stopping cold, pausing for about 3 seconds, and mumbling "...I am so fucking sorry," then presumably making the announcement again to his actual cabin
âą two pilots for different airlines speaking Italian to each other (one of these was actually my captain, the other guy was a friend from his last job)
âą pilot doing a radio shockjock voice saying "aaalrighty folks you're listening to one-twenty-one-point-five the GUARRRRRRD, bringing you the lastest in aviation disasters, mishaps, and tragedieesss! Up next, four more hours of nonstop cat soundssssss!"
the wisdom ive learnt is that becoming part of a friend group 1) takes a long time and 2) involves a lot of feeling awkward and left out at first. thereâs nothing terrible about this but if you grew up chronically lonely or have any kind of trauma relating to social isolation this likely feels Really Wrong and activates danger signals. but both fortunately and unfortunately itâs just how becoming close to new people works most of the time
another thing that was not intuitive to me as someone who grew up an autistic loner: basically everyone on the planet is starved for connection all the time and almost everything people do is an attempt to reach out to another. most seemingly illogical interactions and behaviours can be explained by this. you have to take as many of these invitations as you can. even if you're wrong you still attempted to bring more warmth into the world

Happy Pride!
Every pride, you must reblog this. No exceptions
I love that four different people on my feed scheduled this joyous person to reblog by 8am on June 1. I look forward to seeing this a dozen more times today.
I've never played a more perfect card in the 10 years I've been playing this game
You make soup in a big bowl. You serve it in a smaller bowl. And then you convey it, using a spoon, to your mouth. But what is the spoon? Simply a smaller bowl still

bedford borough council's soc med person has had it with maggie tyers
Iâm not going to get over this easily. Among the responsibilities of the Bedford Borough Council are

the placement of foster children
Within the county of Bedfordshire, England, UK.
Not listed among their responsibilities:
the creation, positioning, professional conduct, ongoing maintenance and estate costs, and scheduling of the fucking Moon
What about pointed sticks the creation, positioning, professional conduct, ongoing maintenance and estate costs, and scheduling of the council of Nicaea?

Genuinely incredible single serve site I just found: a guy made a search tool so you can find completely empty AMC movie screenings in your area and enjoy a private or near-private theatre.
once again i love how star wars takes place in a massive galaxy with thousands of planets and billions of people, and yet every bounty hunter knows each other personally
