I think this might be where Nami starts to actually get that treasure is so much more than money an that maybe she has a treasure of her own.
Nami saving the day is my favorite. I wish Oda would let he do something like this now.
I love how Luffy only now remembers about the map, in all honesty I’m suprised he remembered it at all.
It’s so nice seeing Nami get a hit in. It’s strange how Luffy is helped in this fight and the one with Morgan. At this point I’m so used to him taking on the Big Bad alone that seeing him fight with someone else is welcome. I wish the crew got more chances to help out Luffy in a fight.
More examples of Luffy being observant and doing unexpected things in combat to gain the upper edge
Luffy’s little “I see..” like he finally gets what Nami’s thing is. Luffy please.
This really is the best attack. A straight up kick to the balls. Funnily enough it shows us once again at this point Luffy is going to use whatever tactics are necessary in a fight.
Also his last line, he’s trying to protect Nami as best as he can at this point. He doesn’t yet know her combat abilities so it’s a pretty smart move on his part to tell her to escape while Buggy is distracted.
Sorry for a lack of updates. Work was crazy last week and I had no chance to do much reading.
Ok now I can talk about parallels and differences between Buggy and Luffy since they are extremely interesting to compare.
Obviously their ideas about being pirates are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum. Buggy only cares about cash and power, while Luffy just wants freedom. (The Pirate King is the freest man on the seas after all) Their fruits are opposites as well. Luffy absorbs blows and and can’t take slashes while Buggy nullifies slashes and can’t take blows. Buggy wants to be the one everyone notices so he gets all the credit for impossible deeds, Luffy doesn’t care about any of that.
However they are a little similar. They’ve both had their lives saved and greatly changed by Shanks, who was there when they ate their devil fruit on accident. They are both hilarious and can deliver a joke when Oda needs one. They play off one another very well, especially as comrades in Impel Down and Marineford.
I’m honestly impressed Buggy managed to make an edible fake in one night. What the hell did he make that fake fruit out of?
Sorry, but these two are kind of cute as kids. Their kind of friendship is pretty sweet honestly.
I’m still wondering where Buggy got this philosophy from. I really doubt it was from Roger or Rayleigh, so who told him this? Did he come from a poor family and is obsessed with money because of that? Is he the son of pirates who thought that way? I want to know more of your past Buggy.
Oh hey Reyleigh. See you in like 400 chapters.
I didn’t realize until now Oda uses “villagers rallying against tyrannical pirate” idea twice in East Blue. It’s got way more impact the second time with Arlong as the villagers are fighting after years of oppression at his hands, here it hasn’t been long. Still you have to admire what that these people are doing for one of their own.
I guess that is one way to follow up that crushing blow...
