Dappling Week Day 3: First Date
A nervous laugh flooded through Darlingās veins as she catch the glimmer of Appleās eye.Ā āSorry, Iām still learning the ropes here in Wonderland, Apple. I like how magical it is and itās so fairy amazing to be able to be myself with you here becauseā¦ this is my special place.āĀ
Apple smiled back at her with a nod, they were currently sitting on the edge of a river just by the banks. The water flowed everywhere but the direction that you may expect it, and ducks swam under the water while the fish floated across the surface.Ā āIām happy to be here, too. I never thought Iād get to see Wonderland in my life, I never thought any of us would.āĀ
She always felt in control of herself and able to do anything that she wanted, at least, she felt that way recently because she could be herself and nobody could take it away anymore. She wasnāt just a damsel in distress by the account of anyone else. She had always been a hero by blood, and those in her life who expected her to be a damsel had always been wrong.Ā
She never considered herself someone who wanted to accept her destiny, but that had to do with the fear that the Storybook of Legends was going to give her a destiny that she never wanted. She feared being like her mother, who was just another princess who had to step back and let the Charming hero take the spot in the stars.Ā
But, now she knew who she was, and the storybook mightāve been gone but the tale was written in her blood. She had always been the hero to Appleās story and her drive to rescue others and be strong was because she was meant to be the hero. She was meant to be the person who saved others without fear, and she felt good knowing that.Ā
Regardless of her fate, she wouldāve kept fighting to be a hero. Thatās what Maid Marian told her to strive for in the background. She was happy, and even though she was a rebel through and through, she couldnāt deny that she felt a pull inside of her chest every time she was close to Apple. It was likeā¦ well, to put it as simply as she could, they were meant to be.Ā
āSpeaking of that,ā Apple inquired as she took another bite of her strawberry tart.Ā āYou know, youāve never told any of us how you ended up in Wonderland in the first place. Did you go through the Well of Wonder like Alistair and Bunny did, or is there another portal?āĀ
āOh, itās a long story, butā¦ Iād love to tell to you. Iāve never told anyone how I met the White Knight and found the portal,ā Darling pressed a hand to her lips to cover her laughter. She leaned over closer to Apple and lifted her hand to brush away some of the crumbs from her lip.Ā āI should start from the fairy beginning, I think. Once upon a timeā¦āĀ
Heat rose to Appleās cheeks.Ā
