Ovulating during a war wasn't easy for Lily.

You are one of my favorite artists of all time. The loose texture with really perfect proportions is so aspirational to me. How do you get your characters so consistent? They each have really distinct facial features and they're perfect at every angle. It's so alive. Do you have references or models?

I have drawn them so many times that they just appear in my lineworks, It's not as simple as that, but it's as simple as that lol

I mainly use references for poses (on sites such as magnific, unsplash, pexels).

I can give you brief examples of actual people who I used as inspiration for important features (many years ago, when I was just starting to create comics for them):

Lily - Jane Birk

James - classic Aaron Taylor-Johnson but specifically here

And then it just stayed!

How is AI challenging your own experiences as an artist? I heard that in today's era it is important to get advanced in using AI as well.

I have felt very demotivated and I saw that many artist felt the same "why are we drawing if AI can come up with pretty stuff, and even copying us in 2 minutes?" Then I received a comment that changed this. Someone said "but Bianca, that's when we need human artist like you the most."

Now I look at my drawings and then I see mistakes, weird anatomy, light or shadow, but I can confidently say: AI could never!

I have been drawing and creating a lot since then.

It sounded simple, but it wasn't just him. It was the way he looked at her as though she was the only thing in the world. The way he would encourage her moves with soft and dirty words. It was the way he made her feel safe, relaxed, fun, wet, against his warm, stronger body. She needed him to know that.

Okay but can we please talk about how your James and Lily are simultaneously the filthiest little horndogs AND the softest, most tender couple on the planet? It’s honestly unfair how you make them so goddamn thirsty and so stupidly sweet at the same time. I’m obsessed and slightly unwell about it. And I’m so happy you’re back drawing again after being away for so long — it’s really wonderful to see your art return!

Heheh I believe it's on purpose. I do imagine them like this. It's just fun to ask myself "how cute James can be to make Lily lose her mind?"

guys im so curious how do u think canon jily got together!! its been forever since i read the books but is the consensus just he was so persistent she eventually fell for him??? after like totally despising him before? or did she notice his character development and then realize he wasnt so bad?

Hey! We only get a couple of scenes about Jily in the books. We know that James asks her out while hexing snape etc after their Defense OWL and she obviously harshly rejects him as he's literally humiliating her friend and she finds terribly conceited.

There's definitely no evidence he persistently asked her out or anything, in fact in one of them memories with Snape, he tells Lily that James fancies her, implying she wasn't really aware of it. (He's maybe asked her out a few times by OWLs but not many therefore.)

And we know Lily started dating James in seventh year after he'd matured. James also is made head boy in his seventh year so we can kinda assume he went through a big growth over his sixth year and presumably grew closer to Lily during this time.

Lily's friendship with Snape ended after their 5th year too and he of course despised James so without Snape in her ear, Lily might've been able to see the other side to James. (While he's pretty insufferable in the memory we see in 5th year, he's got a good side too, as we know he became an animagus to help Remus with his lycanthropy and he and his parents took in Sirius after he ran away from his home. He's got layers basically.) The way I see their relationship is both of them maturing but also seeing the other side to each other.

That Lily was cheeky, and funny, and a laugh.

I know that not everyone loves the idea of Lily being an assured and confident-presenting person, and out of all of the characters I write she is probably the one who has gotten the most hate (a lot of it being downright misogynistic, since my James never gets hate for having very similar qualities) for being precisely those things, but that's literally how she's described in canon. She was popular and outgoing. She made cheeky remarks to teachers and practiced magic at home when she wasn't supposed to, and she was also sure enough in herself to call out two very popular boys who were bullying her friend, in public and in front of a crowd. Those are not the actions of a socially-unconfident wallflower (not that there's ANYTHING wrong with that kind of character) but they're not the actions of a Mary Sue either. Being self-assured doesn't mean she had no flaws and no self doubt, and I get that some people would rather imagine her differently, but I've always adored confident female characters who have friends outside of their love interest and feel entitled to take up space in the world, which is precisely why I've always loved her.
