It had been a long time, of course, since he’d felt that presence. When she had departed him, their connection severed by the final summoning, he’d felt— among so many things in those last moments— lost. It was strange now to still feel that pull yet to be standing next to her.

She hadn’t changed one bit since then… not really. And, in truth, he was grateful.

He’d missed her.

    “ It’s been a while. ”, he said, bowing his head low, hands moving in prayer.     “ I… I never said thank you, for everything. ”, he added, sheepishly. “ My… apologies. ”

🔥  ┊   He had written a letter to the little birdy in Besaid, telling her that he would              drop by at some point the following week. Giving the exact date was near              impossible because the boat schedule was truly unreliable. He never              received an answer, so he assumed there was no reason why he could              not pay the girl a quick visit.

             People who called Kilika a small place had never obviously visited              Besaid Village. The village could not have more than fifty inhabitants,              and yet they had a temple – not a small one either.

            The man strolled through the village entrance idly, grey hues searching             for a familiar figure. Perhaps she was on a trip somewhere and that was             the reason he had not heard back from her. The mere thought made him             drew his eyebrows closer together and wrinkle his forehead. 

            Come on little birdy. Where are you?

she’d gotten the letter, of course she’d gotten it. she’d been so excited to see one of her friends that she’d checked the docks nearly every day to see if he’d arrived, though she hadn’t checked today. it was still early, and it was her time to be at the temple.

the temple was her favorite place to go ---- though yevon had mostly been dismantled, it still brought her peace to be there, and was the only thing that was still familiar to her. a rustling beside her brought her out of her thoughts, and reminded her that she’d probably spent enough time today. stepping out of the temple, she shielded her eyes from the blinding sun and looked around ---- and almost immediately saw him (he wasn’t hard to pick out).

“ ifrit ! “ she yelled, hoping her voice carried as she quickly made her way towards him.

while valefor is very open & (naively) easily trusting of others, one thing she’s always been iffy about is touch. she believes it to be an intimate thing, the only exception being a hand shake, but even that can make her uncomfortable. once she’s warmed up to somebody, once she considers them a friend, she’ll show it by touching them in small ways -- a hand on an arm, playful nudges. willingly letting someone touch her is a big deal for her, and can reveal how much trust is there.
