It was the headline that caught Castiel Novak’s eye – as a matter of fact, yes, he was mad at his dad. And his mom. And his overbearing, far too fucking perfect older brother. And his stupid, don’t take anything seriously other older brother. Really, if it came down to it, he was mad at fate, at God, at pretty much the whole world.  I am a 35 year old felon with a GED and $5 to his name, and a noisy, late-sixties gas guzzling piece of Detroit glory that I practically live in. I can play between the ages of 25-39 depending on whether or not I shave. I’m a mechanic and work late nights in a bar. I can expound for hours on the genius of Plant/Page. If you’d like to have me as your strictly platonic date for Thanksgiving, but have me pretend to be in a very long or serious relationship with you, simply to torment your family, I’m game.  Castiel grinned as he read the Craigslist ad. This dude had a set of brass balls, that was for sure.

Cas has gone through a lot of changes over the last 10 years, but the one that always hit me the hardest was endverse!cas. Cas had only been around for a season, so the transformation from rebel Angel of the Lord to a broken, yet loyal man in 5.04 was jaw dropping. And watching a still naive Dean try to cope with the brutal world of 2014 broke my angst loving heart. I crave happy endings, so most of these are one helluva ride, but Dean and Cas still find each other. ~ mod @kyrie101 ~

Destiel AU, vol.2 - two people love triangle and other configrations

One of my all time favorite fanfic tropes is Two People Love Triangle - a classic set up where Dean and Cas get to know each other through some kind of anonymous communication and also meet in real life. It takes time to put both personas together while falling in love and lust with both. But which one they will chose? This trope has a wonderful character tension and potential for delicious reveals that I adore. 

Destiel AU rec lists are intended for first time recs (see here), but since this trope is hard to come by, I’m taking an opportunity to rec couple of new fics alongside older fics that are scattered through the blog, on our Anonymity/ Internet tag and some other tags.

2. Identity Porn. Two People Love Triangle is a part of much larger trope, Identity Porn, which is more popular in fandoms with superheros (see Fanlore definition) where you can get Lois Lane, Clark Kent and Superman tangle. Since Supernatural fandom doesn’t have canon material for Identity Porn stories, destiel fics are exploring secret identity angst in relationship in very creative ways that is sometimes very hard to categorize. Here’s some of my favorite fics with secret identities and delicious tension they bring to the story. As always, this is YMMV kinda rec. 

2.1. Superhero AU
