In order to hunger for liberation, we must see ourselves as agents of liberation, as fighters and leaders. We have been induced to propaganda that feeds our sense of inferiority for so long that it is both necessary and vital for us to now radically push our own propaganda – propaganda that will manifest itself into change.

This is what Sisini Tunachokiona (we are what we see) is inspired by, the need to correct what history preconditioned us to believe.

Using the digital images, I hope to provide an alternative through a spiritual imaginarium, where the black bodies transform into the likes of gods, of highly enlightened ethereal beings. The first step to doing is believing – if we see ourselves as powerful, as mighty, as capable of anything then we start manifesting those beliefs.

Exploring the over simplification of female sexuality and sexual trauma. I wanted to use basic shapes and faded out primary colors to reflect on when dealing with topics of female sexuality, trauma and menstrual cycles, people get uncomfortable or want to make it as simple as possible. Taking into consideration the cultural context in Tanzania these are things that both men and women never delve deeply into as it is still seen as taboo. By showing them at their simplest, I leave the story and the context to be filled in by the viewer. Who are these women? Where are they when they experienced this? How comfortable are we as a people at seeing pleasure displayed right next to pain?

Warning this is a long one... The past month has been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows but one thing that has remained consistent is the incredible amount of love and support I receive from those around me. And today it has been so overwhelmingly evident, thank you isn’t enough. I’m just so grateful to everyone who has taken the time to send a message, make a phone call, engage in a meaningful conversation or just sit in silence,not only today but the months past. I feel the love of God and the universe through you ✨✨✨ reminding me the only things that are truly important is the time we have and how we spend it along with the way we choose to use love. A thought I had: what if our perception of a third eye being the ultimate form of enlightenment is wrong. What if as humans in this 2d spiritual plane it is impossible to unlock the 'fourth eye' and no matter how much we try, this highest form of perception and understanding is ultimately unattainable in the human form?
