If having more women in your show will automatically make said show all about sex then you need a new team of writers that actually know how to write female characters.
Women are not automatically and solely sexual objects. That is not all we bring to the table. We are more than just love interests. Our stories are important too.
This is so poorly answered it makes my head hurt. I just don’t understand it. There’s been sex and romantic subplots on the show, we had Sam showing off his abs, and there have been/are kickass female characters who are not just love interests nor sexual objects. What is he talking about?
I feel like he’s mostly parroting Kripke and trying to offer an interpretation (which, i hope, has probably nothing to do with how our current writers feel on the matter).
Still, meh, stupid and hurtful answer.
It made me so mad to read his answer. There is so much wrong with what he said and even worst... People saying that he said NOTHING wrong. Really? I mean... REALLY? You can admire someone but you can´t stand for him or her if what he is saying is sexist as hell and misogyny cause it´s not okay to allow this kind of bullshit from someone who is so relevant to so many young people.
Women does not exist for what he has implied they exist. Having a female character doesn´t mean she always has to be a love interest. Cause... Does he strip-off in real life every freaking time he talks to a woman? I guess not. Then why does he implies that every female character in TV is there for that? He has done amazing things, but come on... Saying that you can´t have women in a show when you want to focus in problems, dedication and loyalty... Cause we all know women have no problems. And of course they have no hint of dedication about anything (I won´t look at his own wife taking care of their children, pushing her career to the side while he keeps working). And we don´t even know what loyalty means.
There has been amazing females characters in the show that has not been there for Jared Padelecki to show his attributes. They have made the show better and let´s be honest: Yes, the brothers are the main characters, but without side-kicks and badass villains, they wouldn´t have made it to season 13.
People, don´t close your eyes to this kind of comments. It might be fault of his education, but this sexism that we consent and take importance off is the worst kind cause I bet that he even doesn´t know why it´s wrong to think that, and it´s a big ass problem when you don´t know that you have a problem, cause you keep to contribute with injustice towards women even if you think you are not.
Sorry, but this topic angers me.
