Finding Peace (Valkyrie x Loki)
Summary: Val and Loki take a walk together along a stormy beach to visit Loki’s favourite, private spot outside of New Asgard. He protects her from the cold and she comforts him from his demons.

Val crossed her arms over her chest, drawing her thick, puffy jacket even tighter around her body. She finally understood why the Earth’s Council had decided to relocate the Asgardian refugees in Norway; no one else wanted to live there. It was cold and miserable on the best of days, a far cry from the perpetual summer and stifling heat of Sakaar. Even the Statesman, as it drifted through the vast emptiness of space, had felt warmer than this. It was also in the ass end of nowhere, naturally the best choice to dump a settlement of alien refugees.
As her teeth started to clatter, Loki knocked his shoulder against hers and dared to roll his eyes. “Don’t be so dramatic. It’s not that bad.”
Of course he didn’t feel the cold. It must be great, Val thought, to have that Jotun blood keep him from being frozen alive, to be able to parade along the coastline in nothing but a shirt and thin scarf, to fearlessly face the freezing bite of the swirling ocean winds.
“Yeah, well, some of us are warm blooded and might actually die of frostbite.”
Loki didn’t grace that with an answer. Instead, he hopped a few steps ahead before twisting round to face her. He released his scarf from the loose knot that held it in place then wrapped it around Val’s neck, icy fingers slipping beneath her coat and sending shivers up her spine as they brushed against her skin with just enough frequency for it to be anything other than intended.
