“Hey, I’m sorry that I’m a little late.” Shayne was only late by three minutes, but he wasn’t sure if the other would be angry. “Paperwork took a little longer than usual.” Probably because he’d offered to do extra.

       They’ve been planning this dinner for a while now and Týr has been looking forward to it, yet he was going to be late as always. But to his surprise once he arrived to the restaurant Shayne wasn’t there already, thankfully. Only couple of minutes later he noticed the other man walking over to him. “Don’t worry about it. I was running late as well, surprise-surprise.”

“Hey, it isn’t my fault that you lost.” JT defended. But it was. JT had a habit of cheating, having honed the skill of slight of hand. “Pay up.” He raised his eyebrow at the other, reaching his hand out.

       Yes Loki was a trickster. He was a cheat and he loved it. But once someone cheated him or tricked him drove him absolutely mad. “How dare you??” He stood up from his seat, glaring down at the other man. “I ain’t paying you, you fuckin’ cheater!”

“Mount Rushmore!” Athena laughed, pleased with her little joke. “Get it? A rock group.” 

       For a split of a second Lofn didn’t say anything and she didn’t even crack a smile, but as soon as she let the joke sink in the corners of her lips turned upwards into a wide grin before letting out a quiet laughter. “I cannot believe you made that joke!! It was so awful that it’s hilarious.”

The agreement had been made, set in stone with a promise. “Remember your oath, Queen Frigg. I don’t forgive broken promises. Changing the fate of the world is… not impossible, but it is incredibly difficult. What is about to happen that we need to prevent?” 

      “I never break my promises sorceress.” Frigg swallowed dryly as she began explaining what was going to happen. “He’s been having strange dreams lately. My husband went to Niflheimar to talk to a sorceress that we usually go to, to learn the meaning of the dreams. But once he arrived to the land of the dead, they were preparing a great feast for the arrival of my son. He’s going to die. I don’t know how or when but I need you to stop it from happening.”

“You’ll see,” he assured her as he took her hand and began to leave the palace. Yes, he was aware that all he had to do was transport them where he wanted to go with no problems, but walking allowed the excitement to build. 

       Hel wasn’t used to surprises, in fact she couldn’t even remember the last time anyone took the time out of their life to surprise her. All of this was new and pleasant for her. “Hades, this is a torture! You know how curious I am.”

“Come…” his voice was soft, full of wonder. “Come, I want to show you something.” It was very rare that Hades got worked up over something this small. But he was a gracious host and when he found something worthy, he wanted to show it to those he felt close to. Holding out his hand for them to take, he offered a small but comforting smile. 

       Being here with Hades truly felt like home, he was probably the only other god that understood where she was coming from. Both of them the gods of the dead, feared and misunderstood. “What is it?” Her lips held a faint smile, making her dark eyes twinkle as she held his hand..

Circe’s lips pursed slightly, thinking it over. “Recognition.” Slowly, a grin spread on her face and she gave a coy shrug. “I don’t need a place in your court. But I’ve never held much power with the Norse gods. As queen, you should be able to give me some kind of title among your people. But I am very curious as to why the one of the most powerful goddesses is coming to me for help. It must be something big.” 

       “Recognition among my people? I can definitely do that as long as you help me” What was she doing, asking the red haired sorceress for help when both she and Óðinn knew plenty of other people that would do anything for her, and they would do it for free. The thing is, there are ears and eyes everywhere and this was too delicate to be leaked out and used against her. “It’s my son, Baldur. Something horrible is about to happen to him and I need your help to stop it from happening.”

        Lofn glanced up from the book she’d been reading for the past hour. “What kind of rock group has four men that don’t sing?”

“You ever wish you could’ve done something different in your life? Like wouldn’t it be cool t’get a do-over?”

       Levi couldn’t deny that there were plenty of things that he should have done differently in his life, but truthfully he was fine with where his life was right now. “Sure, but what if you’d get a do-over and you’d fuck it up so badly that you wouldn’t even recognise your life afterwards.”

“Oh yeah…because us making out when drunk totally doesn’t count as cheating on your shitty boyfriend,”Max muttered sarcastically as he looked away from the woman. “Do you like to use me for sex and drugs? Is that literally all I’m good for?”he questioned, growing annoyed with the woman. He liked her, which was new for Max. However, he was finally getting a taste of his own medicine since he always treated girls the way this one was treating him.

      On any other day Hel would dismiss the man as soon as the casual conversation turned into anything less than casual. She probably wouldn’t even bother to acknowledge his comments, but as she lay there in his bed she couldn’t find it in herself to pretend that whatever they were doing didn’t mean anything to her. “I thought you didn’t care if I had a boyfriend or if I’m using you for sex and drugs”

Circe’s brows lifted, otherwise unimpressed with the offer. “I have no need for gold or jewelry. I have conquests who bring me those in multitudes. What I want is something that will only enhance my power. Something that will give me the upper-hand should I ever need it.” 

       Circe’s words made Frigg’s skin crawl. What could she possibly be able to get from her to enhance her power? Frigg wasn’t a coward though, she wouldn’t have been able to survive as the queen of the gods for this long if she was a coward. “Then what do you want from me?”

“You’ve come here for a favor,” golden hues found their subject, focused. “But I don’t give favors. You can’t get something for nothing. So what are you willing to trade?” 

       Of course they wanted something in return. Nothing in this world is free, especially not a favour. Frigg hummed quietly to herself as she stepped closer to them. “And what exactly is it that you’d like to get from me? Gold or maybe even jewelry? Whatever it is, it’s yours”
