8. Nicknames? & if so, how did they originate?

They’re not big on nicknames, and they’re used pretty rarely, mostly to tease one another. They can both cram entire oceans of feeling and meaning into each other’s name when they speak it, and all the endearment either of them needs is in the voice they use and the look they give each other.

3. Most common argument?

Their most common serious argument? What the other’s life is worth.

For Keith, that means Lotor is most often arguing against him personally taking to the front lines, whether its on a proper battlefield or a covert blade mission. Early on in their relationship, it’s very much like arguing with a brick wall. Later, when Lotor is Emperor and Keith is his proper consort, he is in no way, shape, or form above using the “but honey, think of the empire!” argument against Keith now that Keith has actual political responsibilities and his death or even incapacitation could throw serious chunks of the empire into chaos. Keith is not happy about it, and it doesn’t actually work as often as Lotor would like, which is why Lotor resorted to compromise, and made Keith a fucking admiral of a star fleet. Close enough to the action that Keith feels fulfilled and like he’s having an impact, but important enough and far enough removed that Lotor doesn’t lose (as much) sleep, with the added security of being surrounded and supported by thousands upon thousands of soldiers willing to lay their lives down for him.

For Lotor, that means Keith is most often fighting to save his damn soul. Lotor developed a nasty tendency towards cutthroat pragmatism growing up under Haggar and Zarkon, for his own survival and the survival of the people he gathered against them: slaves and hybrids and peasants, all discarded and discounted by galran society. It was Keith that reminded Lotor that what truly separated him from his parents was his compassion and honor, and Keith continues to remind Lotor that they are not worth compromising when things become dire, and that they’re always worth fighting for.

Their most common mundane argument? Martial arts strategies. They enjoy talking shop a lot when it comes to arms and training, but it always devolves into the same argument- whether the best defense is a good offense, or the best defense is to simply not be there. Lotor obviously favors evasive actions, and when they first started training together rules had to be established that, no goddammit Lotor, you can’t just dodge me until i’m fucking tired and then stab me, you have to fight back so i can practice, which is why Lotor held the upper hand in the argument for so long. Then Keith continued to improve and became far, far more difficult to evade- especially once Keith learned to ambush. It gives Lotor no end of warm, fuzzy amusement to read battle reports and recognize the same maneuvers that tripped him up years ago as applied to entire fleets hunting elusive state enemies.

9. Who worries the most?

Lotor, hands down. He’s a professional. Worrying is what kept him alive all these years, and it went beyond a habit to becoming a part of him, never to be set down or wiped away, even after years and years of peace and safety. He does make strides in moderating it, but his paranoia will never fully go away.

17. Who says I love you first?

Lotor tries to say it first; he fully resolves to make Keith understand how he feels, and the depths of his feelings, but his feelings are such a tangled mess of needing Keith and fearing losing him and fierce, jealous protectiveness that his brain sort of… skips over ‘love’ as the obvious descriptor at first. It results in him talking circles around the point he’s not 100% aware of himself- he knows he has dangerously deep feelings for Keith, it’s just not until he’s halfway through his carefully crafted spiel to Keith that he connects those feelings to the concept of romantic love, and that’s mainly because Keith blurts out ‘I love you’ in the middle of his speech.

1. Who is the most affectionate?

In the most classical terms? Lotor is. Lotor never let himself dare to hope he’d one day be fully free of Haggar and Zarkon, that it might be safe to take a spouse and start a family. He never goes too long without marveling over the life he has with Keith, and it usually results in Lotor staring besottedly at Keith while Keith’s distracted, scowling over reports or laughing at someone’s joke. And of course, after staring besottedly, Lotor is going to want to touch- partly because, on some level, he needs to make sure it’s still real and not a dream.

6. What is their favorite feature of their partner’s?

Physically speaking, Lotor’s favorite thing about Keith is the fact that, well, by Galra standards? Keith is petite. Even after Lotor gets a hold of him and uses the methods he developed on his Generals to determine Keith’s actual dietary needs as a unique hybrid and began personally ensuring that Keith met those needs on a daily basis, even after Keith grows a solid two inches and thirty pounds in twelve months, Keith has to shop the petite section in Galra space malls.
