──     this  entails  what  the  sheikah  slate  is  capable  of  as  a  storage  system  rather  than  its  other  main  functions .  the  storage  system  is  by  far  the  most  used  function  &  has  been  used  since  the  day  link  took  it  right  after  waking  up .  

please  note :  while  i  do  not  mind  sharing  some  hcs  with  others ,  this  is  one  that  has  to  be  requested .  be  it  only  just  parts  of  the  hc ,  even  then ,  i  do  ask  that  you  let  me  know  &  credit  me .  this  is  a  unique  world - building  concept  that  i  came  up  for  on  my  own  without  the  use  of  research  in  it .  this  means  that  i  did  not  look  into  game  theories / lore  for  it :  i  briefly  brought  the  idea  with  a  friend  as  a  joke  &  then  it  turned  to  be  something  more  real  when  we  looked  into  it  &  talked  more  about  it .  so ,  yes ,  if  you  want  to  use  the  idea  of  the  slate  being  a  storage  system ,  by  all  means ,  go  for  it ,  just  please  let  me  know  if  you  are  taking  any  aspects  of  it  from  me .

game mechanic note :

players don’t really realise it , but link doesn’t really carry around a ‘pack’ . why ? because he holds the sheikah slate beside him . the slate essentially acts as link’s bag & uses its strange technology to ‘ store ’ items without giving link the necessary pains of lugging items around in a big bag .

i do think that it is one of the most under - rated mechanics in the game & one that players do not consider . link is literally using the slate to summon weapons , clothing , food , & other items when he needs them . players subconsciously switch out to the right gear when needed & link acts as though it is no big deal either  -  as if this is normal to do . but when you look at it , no other traveller is like that . you will notice that they are carrying bags on their backs or have a mule following them . so the only explanation for this is that , yes , the sheikah slate is a storage system .

i think it is very crucial to look at it because it really takes items of anything that link wants to keep & preserves them as they are at the moment that he stores them . this is why food doesn’t spoil no matter how long he has it or how long ago he made something . 

example : he collects raw meat ? it doesn’t spoil if he were to store it in the slate . the things he cooks and stores immediately are still warm when he takes them out or eats them later on . the same goes with frozen items as well .

please know that the slate is not a fridge though , it just preserves anything in there as if time is not passing .

as i have noted , this is also for other items as well . not just for food . weapons , materials , & clothing are also included as well . link is able to switch between the different weapons quickly depending on the kind of taps / strokes made on slate . in addition to that , link can also check the status or look up the weapon information by looking at the slate as well . in theory it’s a bit like how you can check between items / apps / etc. on a tablet . 

basically ... the slate is a relic made to be a bit like a phone but with magic properties that can summon specific things . having a storage system , then , is naturally fitting for the slate to have .
