One thing im uncomfortably woke about is bugs. And im actively trying to get more uncomfortably woke. By this i mean i DO believe the normalised fear of bugs stems from both government and business propaganda. The start of household pesticide sales coinciding with the boom in insect related horror movies. The promotion of anti intellectualism and anti enviromentalism. If you're scared of bugs, you wont care about saving them. If you dont care about saving them, you wont care about saving our home, since without bugs it cannot be saved. If you dont care about saving our home, the rich can do whatever they want with the chunks of it they continue to destroy.

I WILL calmly and kindly try to help anyone who is afraid of bugs. I will show them my finds, i will explain their importance, i will tell them just how sweet and gentle and friendly they are. And I WILL shoot down any immature loser who believes senseless killing is the only possible response to not liking something.

Get woke. Love bugs.

My usual like count is like 5 😭 i want to clarify i mean people who conflate fear with hate are the ones who wont care about saving our planet, like people who threaten to kill peoples pet bugs or actively kill bugs outside for no apparent reason. assure the delusional person that they are safe; be open and honest at all times

encourage them to verbalize their feelings and offer protection to prevent injury to themselves or, possibly, others

start building a trusting relationship with them rather than acting on a desire to control their symptoms

do not confirm or feed into the delusion by asking questions about it when the person is not experiencing a psychotic episode

what it does not mean:

insisting to a psychotic person experiencing psychosis that what they’re experiencing isn’t real

I don’t mean to trivialize psychosis by making a weird comparison, but this guide also serves as a handy checklist for helping someone through a bad drug trip. In both cases your number one priority is to get the person through whatever they’re dealing with unharmed.

i don’t think it’s trivializing at all, nor a weird comparison—as a psychotic person who has had psychotic episodes inadvertently triggered by drug use and/or worsened while trying to self-medicate with drugs, i think this is an important addition.

Cold take I think:

If you say you romantically like someone that you know is unstable in some way, the moment they have an episode if you decide you don't like them anymore you honestly didn't like them from the beginning. You liked how they presented themselves to other people to seem okay, not how they actually act. If you love someone you can't suddenly stop love someone just because of one bad moment. That's not how love works. You were just claiming to.

Thermal drone finds chicks before grass cutting

A bird protection charity has been using a thermal drone to find and protect chicks before farmers cut grass in their fields.

Eurasian Curlew or Common Curlew (Numenius arquata) 

Cumbria-based Curlew Recovery South Lakes said it had so far found six curlew nests using the drone, and a total of 32 nests overall. The birds are a red-listed endangered species in the UK and declining due to poor breeding success, the charity said. Farmer and charity volunteer George Taylor, from Crook, said: "If farmers think there may be a curlew nest or chicks in a field due to be cut, please contact us as soon as possible." Curlews lay their eggs in a nest on the ground known as a "scrape", according to the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. They incubate the eggs for about four weeks, then the hatched chicks spend a further four weeks with their parents until fledging.
