The everlasting and currently transphobic sentiment that you will often see about gerards performance is that it is in front of a "crowd full of teenagers", and that the audience if mcr is "teenaged fans", ergo the gender and sexuality play is knowingly "bad" or "creepy". The closest you'll get is some of them are what you might call 20 year old minors. it’s like this you witnessed this horrible event and from that you realized you have been wasting yourself away and you have to change the world instead. you want to you feel like you need to even, sacrifice every part of yourself for this, no one else can do it: YOU have to be the martyr/the savior/the saint/the hero. it’s up to you to put something together to fix everything. suddenly everyone can see it, it feels like the entire world is looking at you waiting for you to go off like a bomb. kids look up to you and you realize maybe you can’t save everyone no matter how much of yourself you sacrifice for this cause you believe in so much. you can’t be the savior they need but they are all looking and listening to you like you can. you can’t save them & what you started needs to end. so you go off like a bomb. you distance yourself from what you used to be. but no one can forget you yet. you build new towers for yourself to hide out in. but no one has forgotten you yet. you failed them. but no one wants to forget you yet. and then maybe years later you realize you never needed to give so much of yourself up, what you were was enough, even if you couldn’t save the world, you saved individuals and most importantly you saved yourself. you can grow from that. i can’t save your life but i can fix our hearts. We set out to change the world ended up just changing ourselves
