Just a reminder to not use the “it gets better, I promise” dynamic on folks with chronic illnesses and disabilities. For many of us, it really won’t. Maybe try something else next time.
Some suggestions for alternatives:
“What do you need?”
“Do you want me to talk about something else and distract you?”
“I’ll still be here even if you’re still sick.”
“Do you feel like you’ve come to terms with not getting better?”
“Do you need a hug, or do you need to vent, or…”
“I’m sorry you’re going through this.”
“Hopefully you reach remission, but if not I’ll still be here with you.”
“I love you even with your illness.”
“Let me know if you need anything.”
adulthood really does hit you like a fucking truck when you spent all of your teenage years thinking you were gonna kill yourself eventually,

The one time I return to this god forsaken app, a picture of my legs are flagged as “adult content”. Tumblr your algorithm is broken and your app is actual shit now.
