“I am, and I believe even Jerry is now.” *Amy looked at Jerry who looked more amused then he had earlier before.* “A wonderful ball, the best I’ve attended I will say.” *It was true, of course all the other balls she went to were ones she crashed and ended up eating many of the guests, but this one was more fun then those all combined.*

* He glanced from Amy to Jerry

“Well, they do say there’s something special about authentic balls in authentic settings. What about you Jerry?”

*Jerry looked at Adam with an amused look.* “I’d have to say I’m starting to become a believer of that.” *He squeezed Amy’s shoulder as he pulled her closer.*

“I’m glad you are enjoying yourself. Don’t exhaust yourselves too soon. We still have Amy’s after-party. Oh by the way… a few of the other vampires wish to hold a sort of ‘opening’ to it but burning their corsets and top hats.”

* Another glance about the room and a lingering look to the main hall even as he hugged Katherine. 

“If you want a snack before then, Jerry, just ask the bar-keep for the house special.”

*Jerry grinned.* "I'll go and see about doing that then. I wouldn't want to be late at the burning. If you would excuse me, ladies, Adam." *Jerry left with a bow for the bar to get a quick drink before hand.* (( My brain is going fart and so I have to get to bed soon. *Amy was a little surprised to see Jerry down in the pit, but wasn’t surprised when he began to freak out on her. She still had it playing in her mind as she cleaned up and was dressed again on her way up back to the party. She saw him waiting there at the door when she came in.*

“I’m surprised your still around. I thought for sure I would have scared you off after you saw me taking a quick snack before later tonight.” *She had hoped he hadn’t ran off. Even though he thought he had been luring her, she had quite enjoyed him hitting on her and flirting back. Something she had never truly gotten to do without anyone know who she really was.*

*Jerry frowned at what Amy had said, but then smiled as he responded.* "I may be an ass most of the time, but I'm not that big of one to run off on some one I find quite interesting. I meerly wasn't expecting such a sight, but frankly after I knew it was you, I couldn't help be even more attracted to such a predator." *He ment ever word, a rare thing he knew for him to actually mean when talking with a woman.*

*He found it very hard to hide his smile. 

“Excuse me Katherine.”

*In a moment he was gone, reappearing at the steps to the pit. He took a moment to force his grin away before descending down the steps. He glanced from Jerry to Amy, the dead vampire and back to Jerry as if this was the most natural scene in the world. He looked Amy and seemed genuinely sorry as he spoke.

“Forgive us Amy. He thought you might be in danger from the big bad vampire and wanted to play the hero. I simply could not resist the little joke.”

*He grabbed Jerry and pushed him towards the steps, keeping his hand at the other vampires back until they were outside, he spoke quickly and clearly, wanting to get this out before she emerged and wanting his words to be understood.

“Amy may not be a vampire, but she was never human. You just saw her as she truly is and once a long time ago she was worshiped as a god by the Egyptians. During the fall of the Old Kingdom, a famine devastated the country, I was driven to some rather desperate measures and killed several of her priests for their blood. She very nearly killed me for it and I had a shock very much like yours, only she was standing over my bed when I woke up. I told you Jerry…. I trusted her to handle herself, even around you.”

*Jerry was shocked as Adam told him this. He never really imagined anything like this was possible, but being a vampire he should have known.* "I'm sorry I didn't listen. I must apologies to her when she comes out. I just assumed." *Jerry paused and then looked at Adam with a some what pissed off look.* "You didn't tell me cause you wanted me to find out the hard way didn't you?" *Jerry glared at him.*

*Jerry looked at Adam and Katherine puzzled by what Adam had said. He was talking with Amy before they came over and she was blushing, his favorite reaction the blood made, he was complementing her at the time. He was confused now what was going on.*

“What is Amy going to do? She could be hurt if you let her go off alone like that.” *He began to follow after her.*

* he grabbed Jerry by the arm*

“I trust her abilities enough to leave her alone with you, that should say something.

* That wicked smile returned to his face

“If you want to play the gallant hero, by all means, go ahead. The slave pit is rather uncomfortably close to the front, just a few dozen feet to the right of the porch.”

* He let go of Jerry and turned to Katherine, sipped his blood and gave her a kind smile.

“I once walked in on her. I think this is the beginnings of a support group forming tonight.”

*Jerry was confused, but was to concerned about the woman to take Adam's warning. If anything, he wanted to be the one to bite her not some idoit vampire fledgling. He followed the directions Adam had gave and entered the pit. It was quite dark, darker then he thought possible even with his great vision. He turned at the sound of gurgling on a chair off the side he saw the lovely dress Amy had been wearing drapped over it. He turned and looked forward to see a vampire in great pain as something huge was standing over him. All he could make out at first was a huge furry body and what looked like a crocidle's tail waving back and forth. When he stepped closer the cretures head jercked upward out of the vampires chest, heart in its large cro mouth clovered in bloods. It eyed him for a moment as the vampire passed with fear in its eyes. With a quick movement it downed the heart before walking towards him on all fours.  Jerry didn't move, be it he was scared, or unsure, but one thing did make him stay was this, Amy was missing and he had to find out if this creature had done it. Unsure what it was he tried to see any evidence behind it of a second body, but say nothing but the woman's dress near by.* "ADAM!!" *If anything Adam could help him hold the beast down long enough to find out what had happened to the young woman.*

*Amy watched as Adam had kicked the man out, she smirked to herself.*

“Would you like some help Adam?” *She said with a devilish smile.* “I wouldn’t want anyone ruining the hunt tonight. I’m always here to help.”

* His eyes flicked from Amy to Katherine and back again.

“Take his heart if you wish, but Katherine has been quite eager to talk to you.”

“I shan’t be long. Please excuse me.” *She bowed and left quickly to return in the same manner.*

*Jerry looked at Adam and Katherine puzzled by what Adam had said. He was talking with Amy before they came over and she was blushing, his favorite reaction the blood made, he was complementing her at the time. *Jerry smiled at the offer.*

“Sounds wonderful, I look forward to the after part then.” *He began to walk farther into the house he spied a lovely woman in a white dress. He was awed by her beauty and how she looked like if you said something she didn’t like she would kill you slowly.* “Who is she?” *He pointed toward who could only be Amy.*

“I think you will rather enjoy it, I am not quite sure of the exact details but I have had a few hints and I would not say it is something to miss.”

* Once Jerry points to Amy a very odd smile broke Adam’s face, as if there was much more than he was ready to say but he generally thought this was a happy turn of events.

“That is Amy. She has done more a few favors for our kind. He is quite the open minded mortician and covers up some of the kills the newly turned leave lying about. I Invited her as, well, given her profession she has few friends and it would be poor of me no to with every thing she has done for us.”

A woman with little friends or family, new to the area, but something more to her then it seemed.* "Would you mind introducing us?" *Jerry was quite intrested in this young looking woman, maybe he'd be able to win her over without having to worry about Adam stopping and scolding him over it.*

Time for the Ball

* He opened the door and let the first batch of humans into the house. A few minutes later a second lot arrived, and then a pair of vampires. Some part of him mentally ticked names off of a list as his house filled up.

*Jerry walked up to Adam's front door and rang the bell. He had originally thought of not coming, not sure if maybe a gruge was still there between the three of them, but figured he'd come anyway. He was dressed in a dark black outfit and a top hat, he'd take that off later, but for now he would enjoy it.*

“Hmm, she sounds like quite the lady. You seem to collect women of all kinds around you. Should I be afraid to get to close to her? She doesn’t delight in vampires does she?” *Jerry wasn’t showing it, but he seemed a little nervous but was interested in this woman that had been known by the humans of Egypt as a goddess.*

“Oh I don’t know about that Jerry. Over time you meet people, most die, some survive and surprise you a few thousand years later by showing up on your doorstep. As for her tastes I really do not know. Forgive my short visit but if everything is ok then I really must be going. I have a plane to Russia waiting.”

“Pardon me for keeping you then. I shell be attending your ball, and believe I shell enjoy it even more now that your friend has shown up. I hope you and Katherine stay safe on your travel.” *Jerry showed genuine care, at least for Katherine when he said this.*

“How did you know she was coming along?”

*Jerry smiled.* "I have my ways. But don't worry, I mean no harm when I gather my knowledge."

*Jerry nodded.* “I’ll make sure to remember that…Ammit, does she really look like those pictures from the book of the dead? Or are those just humans being over imaginative?”

“She can choose her form though I can say that when she tried to kill me she did look like the drawings… only much bigger. I expect expect the Ball and it’s after party to be quiet the event. Amy’s joy in her position and what she does is quite infectious.”

“There are other things out there, in my experience they are very rare. You will fair far better to assume myths are exactly that while in the back of your head keeping in mind that the humans consider us just a myth as well.

And yes… she once went by the name Ammit.”

“Why thank you for caring Adam. No, I haven’t had any problems with an voodoo related people. As for recent turns, I haven’t tried of late. Trying to be more picky then I have in the past. But you mentioned an old friend. Who is this?”

“Oh .. voodoo hoodoo santeria, catholics… it’s all basically the same thing with only minor variations of the importance and powers of saints. 

As for Amy, we first met during a brief trip I took to Egypt during the Old Kingdom period, she may not be a vampire but she is very old, very powerful, an odd sense of humor and exists by feeding on the hearts of the dead.”

* He wore a faint smile

*Jerry heard a knock at the front door as he finished up getting ready for the night. He opened to see it was Adam. Jerry smiled and moved aside.* “Come on in. I’m some what surprised to see you Adam. What brings you by.”

“Thank you, but I cannot stay long. I simply wanted to make sure that everything was ok.. the voodoo locals haven’t descended upon you?

Also, a very old friend of mine has taken it upon herself to arrange a bit extra entertainment for the closing of the ball. A hunt through the fields, trees and swamp that dot this entire area. I thought it might be the perfect opportunity for you to let any recent turns you may have have some fun.”

“Necessary to clear the air, but we both know my intentions in bringing it in the first place were hardly kind. All I can say is that I have set aside such thoughts.”

* Adam stood as Katherine entered.
