Headcanon || Fairy Hunting & The Law
I think it’s very important to note (I don’t remember if this was ever said in canon or not, but I’m going to include it here anyway) that Erzas killing of Fairy Tail members was not a first resort. Edolas Fairy Tail had many, many chances to disband like the other guild did, but they did not. Killing them was literally a last resort for Erza when they failed to disband the final warning.
I will not say that Erza did not enjoy it, because she did. However, the important thing to note here is that she enjoyed it because they were a threat to Edolas.
Erza does not enjoy killing just to kill. Just like with any other legal system, different crimes have different punishments in Edolas. Failing to obey a direct order from the King himself would be counted as treason, and would be treated as such. Treason is a crime punishable by death. Erza takes pride and joy in exterminating those that are ruled as deserving the highest punishment that the law can give, but even she has a code of morals. She does not like killing for fun, and she will only kill if it is her direct order to do so.

Headcanon || King Jellal
King and titles of royalty are only that to Erza: titles. They’re simply a representation of the country and their standings, so while it is important to her that a King be competent, and as long as their actions make sense, she couldn’t honestly care less about the actual title.
However, she does not like the current King.
As someone that worked to get where she was under the rule of his father, she doesn’t think that he is capable of being the King. He has no practice, he has no backbone in her opinion, and he never was around to know if he wanted the title growing up.
She’s very much aware that it wasn’t totally his fault, but it doesn’t make her opinion any less true or relevant.

Headcanon || Childhood & Rise To Being General
Erza was born into a family of generals. From generation to generation, the males of her family had always dominated the work force, always knowing that it was their responsibility to work their way up to becoming general. The army was the only way for the males of the family.
However, when the first female was born into their family, that line would be broken.
To say that her family was disappointed when the most recent birth was a girl would be an understatement. Her father made no attempt at hiding that fact, and as a child she never quite understood it, until she asked. It was her mother that explained it all, and it was with her mothers encouragement that she would gain the confidence to work.
She would prove to her father that she was just as capable as any male.
However, to say that it was an easy road for her would be a lie. She had added pressure on her, with her father being a general, she had to work twice as hard in order to earn her way, and earn her place. With the promise of another being made general when her fathers retirement would come along, and that time quickly dwindling due to her fathers declining health, she wanted nothing more than to become the one that continued her family’s lineage, and her father promised her that if she ever felt ready that he would take her on in battle in order to prove herself, and if she beat him, she would be the one to become general.
And finally, after countless attempts, on her fourteenth birthday, she did exactly that.
Walking down one of the palace corridors, he froze when he saw her standing at the other end. Very deliberately, he turned around and headed back the way he had come, his pace much faster than before. Was he avoiding her? Yes, of course he was.
She stood, end of hallway. His Majesty -- how she hated having to call him that -- would have to come by sooner or later, and thus she could approach him. He couldn’t avoid her forever, afterall. Sure, he could try, but trying only got so far. Why was it that she hadn’t seen him in hours? Had he done something worthy of being reprimanded? Was he afraid that she would be the one to give it to him?
Lost in her own thoughts, she had almost missed his scurrying, and had it not been for loud shuffling, she likely would have. Hadn’t he just --
Brows furrowed, lips curling downwards into a frown. He was avoiding her!
Quickly, she followed, voice calling out for him.
“You can’t run away from me forever!” Jackass.
