The following photos are screenshots of phone applications that allow one to monitor your social media accounts, bank statements, and even one’s health.

These photos illustrate how monitoring have become so normalized, that we even have phone apps just to monitor our own private things at our fingertips. It may not be the same thing as someone hacking, but it goes back to the “social control” part of Foucault’s panopticon. We like to monitor what we CAN control.

Hackers use easy tactics to get into ones private online accounts. As shown in the video, there are a number of methods that hackers use to attain personal information through Facebook. Therefore, we must protect ourselves by not using common passwords like the ones that have personal significance to you for example. Be aware, protect your privacy. Be careful when exposing yourselves on social media.
