black communities have been witnessing executions like the one that happened to George Floyd throughout generations of oppression. this is terrorism, and it is not the burden of these communities to demand change. so, white people. how can we show up to support our black communities during this time?
1. call the mayor of Minneapolis, Jacob Frey: (612) 673-2100 and the DA: (612) 348-5550.Ā demand the prosecution of all of the officers involved in the murder of George Floyd, including Derek Chauvin (badge 1087) and Tou Thao (badge 7162).
2. textĀ āFloydā to 55156 and demand that the officers in charge of George Floydās death be charged with murder.
3. black people are asking that we STOP sharing the video of George Floydās death. we do not need to witness a murder in order to care about it. cruelty like this exists and it is REAL. period.
George Floyd was face down on the ground with a grown manās knee in the back of his neck, begging them to let him breathe. the officerās knee remained there even after losing consciousness. the officer continued to kill him. no one deserves a death of that manner and we should all be outraged. to be black in the U.S. should not be a death sentence.
Just gonna add the link to the official (and ONLY) gofundme for the George Floyd Memorial Fund, if you can please donate and share:Ā https://www.gofundme.com/f/georgefloyd
If youāre uncomfortable about this then good, you should be. If you donāt speak out because youāre uncomfortable, then your silence is supporting MURDERERS.

One of my biggest insecurities is my stretch marks. After I had my son I was covered in them. Itās been over two years and the deep gashes have made no progress on disappearing.
So in an attempt to try to not hate them (and myself) as much, here they are.
Americans, please pause in your scroll to call this number, email the DA, and also text "JUSTICE" to 55156.
White friends, if you have not already, read about the lynching of Ahmaud Arbery, but please use trigger warnings if you choose to share the video of his death in respect for your Black friends who may be further traumatized by seeing more violence against Black bodies. Then look for other ways to take concrete action to seek justice, dismantle white supremacy, and protect Black communities. š
If a man cannot run down a street without being murdered; if a boy cannot wear a hood and eat skittles without being murdered; if a child cannot play with a toy gun without being murdered; your land is not free. Your land is defiled by hatred and discrimination, and so long as those who are discriminated against are not free to walk outside without the threat of violence, your country is not free.
The absolutely despicable act the world has witnessed this week is a reminded of the hatred that remains entrenched in an unjust system and culture. It is a reminder of the work that needs to be done and the reparations that must be made to bring any sort of justice to the United States of America.
While it seems vile to reduce the life of a person to a hashtag, I believe the whole world must be made aware of the sheer capacity of discrimination still faced by those in the US in order for any sort of change to be brought about. Rest in Peace Ahmaud Arbery. Anyone with a soul mourns for such a horrific loss of life.
