Christmas Experience Academy - Student Experience...
The summer school was an amazing learning experience for me and I am very happy that I also got a diploma signed from Santa Claus himself😁.
I got to learn a couple of things from the summer school: how different companies put the Christmas and the Rovaniemi brand into their work, like Santa Park, how to take photographs in the wild nature, a few important lessons about how to be an Elf and some historical facts about the city of Rovaniemi and some points of interest in the city.
How to take photographs was explained to me on the guided tour that we took part during our summer school with the company Beyond Arctic. The guide took us to 3 different places and explained us what is good to photograph at what time and also how to do it. The Elf lessons were provided to us in Santa Park, by none other than the Elves. They taught us how to peek trough windows, to tip-toe walk, to do Elf surfing and to be kind to everyone and everything. The historical facts and points of interest were presented to us by Mama Fox and Papa Fox from the company Happy Fox, which took us on an amazing boat ride on the Kemijoki.
In the end of the Academy we had to do some group work reflection on the values of Christmas. My group didn't focus on a specific value although most of our points were related towards the nature and authenticity. We also had, as I recall, to give some ideas how to put the values to be all year-round and our group liked a lot the idea that we had of creating more street art in Rovaniemi, thus making the city more interesting and showing free art for people who don't like going to galleries and such things, people (like me) that feel connection to the street culture.
That was my week in the Christmas Experience Academy. I enjoyed it a lot and hopefully more people would join next year.

Christmas Experience Academy: Tourist Post Experience
I was participating in the Christmas Experience Academy summer school. It took place in Rovaniemi. With the teachers and the course mates we had a lot of fun experiences throughout that week. Some of which left happy memories in us.
The first day we met the Elves from Santa Park. They were really friendly and happy to see us. They taught us many things, which I told in a previous post, and we had a lot of fun together. We also went on a boat ride with the company Happy Fox. They are very kind people. Their boat ride, or at least the one we took, was fun and educational, since they told us some historical information about Rovaniemi and they also showed us the first hospital of the city😁. Another memory left in me, was when we went to a photography tour with the company Beyond Arctic. The guide helped us to set our cameras and let us to have some fun with our surroundings. I took amazing pictures, considering that they were shot with a phone's camera (you can see them in a previous post😉). And last but not least we met Santa Claus🎅🏻. He actually came to our last dinner and gave us the Christmas Experience Academy diplomas personally, signed by none other than him😁. And not forget we took a picture with him and an Elf saying not "cheese", but "Christmas tree" 🎄🎄😂😂... Oh goodness those Elves are hilarious😂
Well these were the strongest memories I had from that summer school. Hopefully next year is gonna be even better. 😁

Nature
Another day in the Christmas Academy and yesterday we had a very interesting lecture about Nature with Dr. Johannesson. Since then a question overtook my mind, "What is Nature?"🤔. The answer to that question can be different for every person. That is because people create realities and enact them, so every person has their own reality. I find that very interesting. But let's return to the question...
For me Nature is a place where I can be free, free from all of the problems that are surrounding me... I can forget about everything, even if it's not for long, and free my mind and soul... When I am among Nature I feel like all my senses are sharpened. I am able to feel the surroundings by feeling the wind, the ground, all the fauna and of course the flora. I can hear the sounds of Nature, like the cracking trees, the wind, the singing birds... My nose can catch the smells that Nature offers, like the flowers, the trees, the air... The edible plants and drinkable water, that Nature offers, taste even better... And finally the view that my own eyes are capturing, all the colours that are out here, dancing across the fields and hills covered in trees and bushes, the flowing river that passes through the forest, the warm light that spreads itself across the land and water, creating shadows of what it hits.
With the summer school we went to a photography tour with a representative guide from Beyond Arctic, a company offering photographic tours in the nature, and I did some photographs. In them I have captured what nature means to me and a part of myself.

Work IS theatre!
Pine & Gilmore 2013
Now, you may be wondering how is that possible. Well, it actually is close to the mind that work really IS a theatre. Not every work, but exactly the ones where workers perform in front of the eyes of their customers. They are acting, being good at it or not so much, but they ARE acting. Of course, they have to act in a way that each and every guest of theirs is engaged with each and every interaction, that's at least how Pine & Gilmore put it and I personally like it.
With the Christmas Experience Academy, in Rovaniemi, that I am in, we went to have a lecture at Rakas, if I remember correctly, and eventually we had lunch there. When we finished with our food a pair of Elves, helpers of Santa in Santa Park, came to pick us up and to take us to a magical place. YES! You guessed it, it was Santa Park. They showed us their magnificent magical cavern. The Elves were surprisingly friendly since they just met us, but hey after all they are very happy magical creatures😊😁✨! They were talking to us and were telling us things about what we were going to do together. And since we were in the cave, we went to the Elf School🎄🎄. Fun Elf fact, the Elves go to school for whole 99 years... maybe I already mentioned before😅, oops... Anyways, we went to Elf School and there the Elves taught us 6 very important Elf Lessons.
Be kind to all the creatures😊❤️
Peeking through the windows (to check if the kids are naughty or nice😁)
Tip-Toe walking (that's the most quiet way to get to the window if the kids are sleeping😴)
Elf Surfing🏄 (since the Elves also like to go to the beach and the waves there)
The mosquito song (because the Elves do not applause the mosquitoes like us humans😂😂)
Kiiver, Oover, Toover... (magical words, saying them somewhere in the world elf magic happens)
In the end when we graduated from Elf School (not in 99 years😂) 🎓, the Elves presented us with diplomas and hats (the ones on the picture). This is a day in the summer at the Elf School.
🛑WARNING: If you want the magic to stay DO NOT CONTINUE reading!🛑
You see, this is how actually workers are acting, they are being on stage, in this case the Elf School, and they engage us with interactions, they taught us how to surf, to sing and dance, to walk like them and to peek like them. These workers are very good at what they are doing and they love it. It is an experience for both them and the customers, since sometimes the customer are making the experience for the actors. This is how work becomes a theatre... and the audience also gets the stage, sometimes. 😁

Not the family that you expect to meet...
...But a very friendly and curious one😉. We met the reindeers in Finland when we parked the car to have a snack. Guess what😂! They were curious to what we were eating and approached with great caution. We were just a couple of meters apart. But the cute family got afraid and they left, but in a very calm way. Who knows, maybe they were in a hurry to help Santa and the Elves with the preparation of Christmas🎅🏻🎄😉
The one thing I can say about our meeting is that we all have different shapes and forms, but what matters is not on the outside... Or just put simply "Do not judge a book by its cover"!🤔
