Question for whoever has the answer. Why are there closed species? WikiFur says that it’s usually for copy right reasons, but copy right laws only go into effect if someone is making money, but as far as I can tell people don’t usually make money off of their fursonas. Are there any other reasons that aren’t listed?

I don't know how late I am to the post, but I'll list my own personal reasons as to why closed species can exist;

- Closed species are similar to a VIP Club. Only specific people can get in, whether it be through spending money (on myos or adopts), trading, etc. And through the limitations, the communities can be more regulated.

- Similar to the above reason, some people make closed species just for the label. Its like a buzzword to say "hey, this oc is part of an exclusive club". This may make the viewer want that oc, or want to be part of that species so they're not missing out on exclusive stuff.

- Also; profit. Again for the same two reasons, people will wanna be part of an exclusive club if given the opportunity, and most species owners will capitalise on this, even prioritising it. It sucks when I feel CS have potential.

- A reason I wish was more common is making a closed species to be an actual fun game. Basically an art-rpg, where you're involved in the species and its community, rather than just sitting around waiting for the next adopt or myo drop.
