A Prayer for Healing and Grace Dear God, We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we've carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. Have you ever wanted to get even with someone who hurt you? Well, they hurt you, so it's only fair if they experience some pain in return, right? But there's this saying, "An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." It's a reminder that, when we're all trying to get revenge, the cycle of pain never ends. But what's the alternative? How do we balance forgiving others with standing up for ourselves? And is it possible that "getting justice" is about more than just punishing people who've hurt us? There's a guy named Joseph who you can read about in the Old Testament of the Bible. Like all of us, I'm sure, Joseph once had to deal with some pretty major hurt inflicted by his own family. Check out his story, (Genesis 37 - 45) because it reveals something important, and it's this: justice isn't just about revenge. Justice is love in action. Earlier, my wife shared to me her conversation with God while she’s resting and silently talking with God after work. And this is their convo… Lord, yung nababasa ko na “let's vote as if our children's future depend on this election”, “para sa mga bata, para sa bayan”. Paano Lord iba ang nanalo, paano na ang future ni David? And the Lord reminded her the time when we dedicated David to the Lord. That was 2015. That was the year we entrust David’s life and future to Him. That no matter what the future holds, God’s will for David will prevail and our hope is secure. She clearly remember daw yung prayer ni Doc Jun kay David at that time…”Lord, we dedicate David to you, yung future nya, ikaw Lord ang mag papaaral sa kanya, secure na ang future nya sayo, Ama”. At sabi nya, she felt the peace in her heart at nabura ang pangamba, alinlangan at takot na ibinibigay ng mundo. Work is also a means of living out what Jesus identified as the second greatest commandment: to love your neighbor as yourself. Excellent work is one of the most practical expressions of this command, as work is simply a means of serving others. If you’re a nurse, you serve others by bringing them back to health. You serve others by solving problems, creating jobs, and generating financial returns if you’re an entrepreneur. If you’re a writer, you serve others by communicating ideas in clear and compelling ways. God’s Word points to many ways in which our work will matter for eternity, but we must never lose sight of the fact that our work matters today. Jesus didn’t say, “Love your neighbor as yourself…so you can tell them about me,” or “Love your neighbor as yourself…so you can help build my kingdom.” “Love your neighbor as yourself” was a complete sentence. Sometimes, we can be tempted to over-spiritualize our work. As the eyes of the world turn towards Ukraine and the Russian aggression at their border, the first and best thing we can do is fall to our knees in prayer. Lord, We thank you that in every situation, every dark moment, you are active and working among us. Even when things seem at their bleakest, we trust in your sovereignty and strength.   In John 16:33 you said, “in this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” We embrace the fact that this world and the troubles we face in it have been overcome, and rest in the knowledge that you have the power to move in any and every situation.
