I went out with my mom and little sister because I’d been in the house for months and this is one of the pictures I got. It’s my favorite from the many I took that day.

Week 3: Class Exercise

This week 3, we are exploring about metering light and shutter speed / ISO in class. We are shooting some water spray, raining shots, into the light photo essay. Here are some of the results.

Frozen Motions - that I shot on the same day - it was raining - and I really like this shot because it really captures the moment

We are given out this table as our homework, but I was confused at first, then I asked this in class - then I get it. It's about taking examples for Metering Table - I didn't do them properly like every colour of the table - but I understand the principles of it after several attempts on shooting in manual mode. Here are some of the shots/ colour that I try for this task.

I am Kaia Kento, a 19 year old photographer from New Zealand. Much of my work is influenced by an isolated past growing up in the Waipoua Forest in a house strangled by morning glory, a large print of the Lady of Shalott hanging by a hole in the wall. I aspire to create conceptual images and portraits that whisper a narrative as I find myself drawn into a world of glistening lights and femme fatales, sinister forests and ethereal beauties.

Week 5 or 7: Class Exercise

This week tasks: 

- Photoshop Technique 

We didn’t got a chance to explore more of portrait shoot on Week 5 due to weather conditions / raining - so instead of doing the portrait shoot - we were focusing on Metering and exploring on different shutter speeds.

So in this week 7, we continue that exercise - and I think we produced some great quality work. 

-Shooting the portrait using Reflector and Diffuser, using Shallow DOF for small number and brig hole, finding a solid background

raining shots / rain drops essay - which I’ve posted them earlier.

As Homework, we have to shot one stunning window light portrait, using a reflector for next lesson. I did some promotional shots for School of Drama, applying this window light portrait using a reflector technique for it. Here's the shot

Week 7: Photoshop Technique

This week 7 class activities, Ben showed us how to edit our picture in Photoshop - using the chocolate vanilla pie tool, curves tool, healing brush tool, patch brush tool, and stamp brush tool. 

I try them on for our homework in one of my portrait shoots. I couldn't try the patch brush and stamp brush tool because I forgot how to do them. But I try to enhance the photo using curves tool and healing brush tool.

I still need to learn how to cover up the pimples and etc - need to remember about this. I'm not really a photoshop user so there's a lot to learn from just one class which Ben showed us more technique during Week 13 - Stitching -

I’ve always love to take candid shots and I didn’t know that was one of God purpose in my life to bring me to this state of me discovering an art called “Stage Photography” -

I’m currently living in Sydney Australia, studying BA Dramatic Arts -

My blog is actually my weekly class exercise / class portfolio because I’m doing Photography 1 unit in my final semester. 

I love taking pictures of a moment - people’s unexpected faces - and dramatic stuff. Finding a HERO shots it’s one of my greatest satisfaction in my work. 

Stage Photography is basically a live event photography but also consist of taking promotional shots for a Theatre / Play / Drama flyer that have specific characters / meaning.

Week 13: Stitching

This week we are focusing on Photoshop - Merging Photo and make them look good for printing. 

Now I understand how the Auto Enhancing in printing shop works - 

They're basically drop down the axis from the original picture then they brush it off with white to make the photo looks good for printing. 

Also the technique of how Panorama works. We have to manually shot a panorama using tripod then we merged them together in Photoshop. We have to make sure the image quality as well so we can print them out.

This was my first experience in editing photo in Photoshop.

Stitching this panorama comes from these 5 different continues shot -using tripod and specific spot that we choose. 

We also learn the technique of Bracketing - which putting 2-3 images together in order to make them better and the detail shown. 

Bracketing: 

Original pictures to create Bracketing is taken from these two images. 

This technique of Bracketing is useful if you'd like to show more detail in the picture - taking the same shot but with different lighting point. Then you combined them together in Photoshop and using the brush tool colouring the area that still need enhancement to make the quality of picture / detailing better.

Week 11 - Outdoor Shoot

This week class, we went out to Ballast Point Park, Balmain to practice our outdoor shoot. 

It's really beautiful. 

The class tasks are: 

1) Panorama 

- We have to take a panorama shots in the classic way using our camera and tripod 

-Then we attached them together in photoshop/we printed them. 

- ISO 100-200 

2) Shoot 1 object but in 3 different metering - so we can attached them together in photoshop and create a beautiful balance 

3) Photo Essay of your choice, 8 - 10 shots: 

- Form 

- Texture

- Tone

- Colour

- Shape

--> I chose Form for this one.

Hello !

I’m a French photographer and I’ve been fooling around with a camera since 4 years or so … I don’t have any particular preference in my subjects, I just like to capture what surrounds me and make me feel something !

I sometimes plan my shots and make a set but it is quite rare and I really prefer walking with my camera and shooting what comes to me. Like this spaghetti monster for example !
