Using the word retard is not the same as being bigoted to people with down's syndrome. The people who tell you you're a hateful bigot for using the word retard are the ones celebrating aborting disabled children and praising Iceland for terminating all of their down's syndrome pregnancies. These are the same people who tell you it makes sense to abort and otherwise not want a down's child because it would be "so much work" and they would have so many healthy problems, as though adoption doesn't exist if they really can't do it. Controversial, I know, but I believe that disabled children deserve to live, and that abortion based on manageable medical conditions is evil eugenics.

I have no idea what people are going to do when AI (or another automation technology) eventually replaces a third or more of our jobs. We will eventually reach a point where employment is no longer necessary to keep society functioning. People defined by their careers or perception that a person is defined by how useful they are will fucking lose it. I wonder how we will handle this and where we will go from there. Socialism and capitalism would no longer be helpful in their current forms.

AI is actually amazing at widening accessibility. People will be out there criticizing people for using AI transcription tools ("how can they even trust in its accuracy?!?!?!??111") meanwhile I'll be there using it to make taking notes finally work for me. I found it impossible to listen to the lecturer and write at the same time, so I'd find I had no memory of the lecture and had a bunch of ambiguous notes that were often half completed because I struggled to summarize or write down/type fast enough to keep up. I have severe attentional problems from psych and neuro issues and now I can FINALLY function and compete with neurotypicals thanks to stuff like this. Thanks, audio recordings + AI summaries.
