there’s that hidden dialogue where grimshaw tells Abigail to ‘earn her keep’ and basically tells her to go work as a prostitute again. abigail says no, that she doesn’t do that anymore ... but it has me thinking ..... lets be real, women didn’t have many opportunities at that time and I just can’t stop thinking that abigail felt obligated to continue working as a “working girl” and that complicated her relationship with john at the beginning. they were both young and unexperienced and probably didn’t known how to communicate effectively =/ plus the added weight of being part of this lifestyle =/
