Valentin was a very confusing creature in the eyes of Joon, who at the start questioned why his father had even chosen this man. Then again compared to his mother the man before him Apollo figured that the best choice had been made and he accepted it. There was no other way for him, even if he chose not to since hie father age and power would push him to comply - pureblood politics was complicated to say the least. However since his fathers new husband had helped the two purebloods reconnect, Lev chose to be neutrally friendly towards the other and right now was glad someone spoke to him, who wasn’t constantly apologising as if that would actually make things better. “You did. Otherwise I would have never returned into a state where I would talk to my father, even less calling him that,” Joon spoke and seemed clearly nearly eager to speak of that rather than the mess of his personal life. “Ou I bet. Trust me, I know my fathers past enough to know you are a wonderful fit for him
Apollo fell silent and looked out, the old hanok was still an oddly beautiful place and probably because his father took care of a small part of it. “This might be an overly simplistic comment from the outside, but when you had a mother commenting constantly on your inadequacy, looks, manners, behaviour and so one….there are mental thought patterns that emerge. So being as proud and confident as my old man is not in the cards ” he spoke, voice oddly detached from his own self and trying best not to start crying again as his hands came to mess with his hair. Another odd thing that the father son duo had in common, yet were blissful unaware of their own actions. “To me it has always been that there was a certain line you did not cross when you are friends and one of them is sleeping with the others boyfriend. Never. I don’t see how there is a need to communicate that as I never slept with my friends boyfriends, because of said reason.” His jaw tightened as his eyes slowly closed, knowing that getting worked up again was really pointless and in the end his father was listening too. Letting out a huff of air through his nostrils, the male adjusted himself in his seat to somehow manage himself enough not to thrash this place. “Communication did lack, indeed. I simply never expected this to happen and now I am here wondering if this is maybe something my boyfriend always wanted - access to more than one partner. I am simply surprised he never said a word.”
Val beamed a bit internally at the mention of how he was wonderful for his husband. Who wouldn’t? After all, that was a sort of blessing from Joon, if anyone were to ask Val. But it quickly faded, as he watched the way Joon spoke, reacted, everything-- it all screamed that he was falling apart at the seams and it made him sad. But there was clear confusion, as whatever Val was getting across, was not getting across. “Communication with your friend wasn’t needed. The important thing is you have communication with your partner,” he pointed out, “And maybe he doesn’t want access to more than one partner, whether that be sexually or romantically, it’s not the end of the world. That was something Edward and I had to face in the beginning. Surprisingly, it was your father who wanted multiple partners,” he explained, “He encouraged me. Not romantically, but sexually, and as long as we have good communication, which is something your lacking with your partner, then it works out, you know?” he tried to explain, biting his lip.
After a moment, he moved to gently grab Joon’s hands away from his hair--something he did with Edward when the elder did the habit. He held them, calmly, giving them a small squeeze. Sometimes when his husband needed calming down, he just needed something--someone--to hold him down. “Please remember, your mother isn’t here anymore,” he reassured, softly, “She hasn’t been for a while. You have to get out of that thinking pattern.”
