Lmao, the petty ass shit Snape said to these kids did NOT stay with them for the rest of their lives. Harry got pissed about it, because it was unfair and, like, who wouldn’t be pissed, but did he take any of it to heart? Not really. He knew Snape was just being a dick, and chalked it up to Snape’s personal issues (until SWM, but that’s another can of worms). Neville was intimidated by Snape when he was young, but he also marched his ass into the dude’s office to steal from him without batting an eye just a few years later, so like, I’d wager he was pretty over it by then. Hermione was over the tooth comment by the end of the day and went back to her regularly scheduled “defend the teachers, even the mean ones” mantra pretty quick. No evidence of trauma to be found. Harry named his kid after the guy? I mean, yeah, Snape was wrong to use his status as a teacher to bully kids, but acting like he traumatized any of them and Sirius was... somehow better because magic can heal bones doesn’t, uh, make sense? Not to mention that Sirius literally did traumatize Snape, let’s just ignore that one, and yeah, Sirius was shit to Harry too. Not only did he deliberately make him feel bad about not being as reckless and ‘fun’ as James, he also tried to play off his involvement in tormenting another student, which, given that Harry has been on the receiving end of people like Sirius thinking it’s okay and fun to hurt people, this is like a goddamn slap in the face, and is its own form of emotional fuckery.

for the self-conscious beginner: No one makes great things until the world intimately knows their mediocrity. Don’t think of your writing as terrible; think of it as preparing to contribute something great.

for the self-conscious late bloomer: Look at old writing as how far you’ve come. You can’t get to where you are today without covering all that past ground. For that, be proud.

for the perfectionist: Think about how much you complain about things you love—the mistakes and retcons in all your favorite series—and how you still love them anyway. Give yourself that same space.

for the realist: There will be people who hate your story even if it’s considered a classic. But there will be people who love your story, even if it strange and unpopular.

for the fanfic writer: Your work is not lesser for not following canon. When you write, you’ve created a new work on its own. It can be, but does not have to be, limited by the source material. Canon is not the end-all, be-all. 

for the writer’s blocked: It doesn’t need to be perfect. Sometimes you have to move on and commit a few writing sins if it means you can create better things out of it.

for the lost: You started writing for a reason; remember that reason. It’s ok to move on. You are more than your writing. It will be here if you want to come back.

Potions Help for Harry Potter Wizards Unite 🧙‍♂️ 🧙🏻‍♀️

I’ve been brewing potions for my vault and discovered that if you tap the handle you can access speed up brewing time by becoming a “potions master” and adding your master notes. I haven’t seen any posts with these hints and helps so I thought I’d add what I’ve found out.

I was high off my ass last night and had this dream where I was in this dense ass forest and sitting there was a tall woman. She was so tall I couldn’t see her face but she was wearing gold and I was like “uh...hi?” And she said “I made you, do you know that?” And I nodded and she was like “I hear your thoughts.
