EDINBURGH QUIDDITCH STADIUM 30 October 2020 starter for @veelavictoire-weasley
Lupin was surprised how fast the girls fixed their outfits this time. Usually when he had to go somewhere with both Victoire and Dominique, he had to wait way more than ten minutes before they even got outside the front of the house. Still, Teddy greeted the girls upon picking them up with his usual goofish smile and two roses in hand as tradition called. It was just something he did. Red for Dom and white for Vic. What can you say, he was a chivalrous one.
When they apparated at the Stadium’s grounds, his nose filled up with the terrible stench of whiskey and bad breath as people cheered around and gave flight to multicolored smoke spells that formed the crests of tonight’s teams. Every Quidditch gathering ever felt like a big family coming together for a feast. Teddy didn’t particulary hate those kind of events - they were loud, filled with people doing stupid things over sports and he could get away with drinking a few butterbears without worrying what his Seniors at St. Mungo’s would say. After all, everyone was at this friendly show off (as friendly as a Quidditch match could be).
When Dominique ran off to do something, Teddy placed his arm around Victoire, a smile rising upon his lips. They hadn’t seen each other for two days since both were preoccupied with adult stuff that, quite frankly, he hated. He was also kind of wary around these Quidditch games, now that he was a healer. As reckless Lupin was, he now had the actual ability to help someone in need, should somebody fall off a tribune or get demolished by an angry mob of fans. However, Teddy and Victoire had some time to themselves now, careers could wait.
Teddy stopped and turned on his heels, kissing her on the lips while his hand gently carressed her tender cheek. When he pulled back, he looked her in the eyes. Oh, he would never get tired of those eyes of hers. “How’s my favorite person doin’ today? Well, the past couple of days, really.” Teddy’s voice fluttered. “I’m sorry we couldn’t see each other. My shifts were totally upside down because I had to cover for this guy, Maxwell. It’s funny, because he broke a leg and needed someone to heal him, so while I was covering his shift, I also had to take care of him in the hospital,” he sighed. “It’s so frustrating. But anyway-“, he turned around to scan the perimeter.
“I see someone selling drinks over there, wanna go?” he inquired, warm tones in his eyes.
Victoire was eager to get to the Quidditch match, so it didn’t take her long to put her hair up into a high ponytail and throw on a jersey with her aunt’s name scrawled on the back. Bounding from her room into the living room, she waited for Dom to be ready, itching for Teddy to hurry up and get here already. She was excited to be going to the opening match with all of her family -- even though the Weasleys were ensured great tickets all season long, there was something about the opening match after a few months of the season being over that was just electrifying.
When Teddy finally arrived, two roses in hand, Victoire and Dominique rushed him out the door, arriving to the stadium quickly. Promising that she would meet them at their seats, Dom ran off to greet some of her Hogwarts friends, and Victoire turned to Teddy, glad for the opportunity to be alone with him at least for a moment. Once they went up to the box with the rest of her family they would lose that opportunity, so she wanted to enjoy it now while she could.
Humming happily, she returned his kiss, leaning up on her toes to do so. Settling back down onto her feet, Victoire smiled up at Teddy. It was a relief to be with him -- not seeing each other for a week wasn’t the end of the world, but it was certainly not all that fun. “Oh, I’m doing just dandy,” she said with a bright smile. “It’s honestly nice to not be on press duty today.” Laughing, Victoire shook her head. “How is it that these things always happen to you, Teddy?”
At his suggestion, she nodded eagerly. It was a hot day out, considering that it was October in England, and refreshing drinks sounded like an excellent idea. “Besides having to wait on injured coworkers, how was your week?”
