Titled: Meeting and mayhem
“By the way dad, in 3 days vaggi and I are going to Heaven for a meeting with Sera and Emily, so I won’t be here.” Charlie said to her dad hesitantly.
She knew heaven was a sensitive topic for Lucifer, but if she was going to be gone for a good chunk of a day, she’d probably better keep on the same page.
Lucifer shifted his weight, hands holding each other and looked up at Charlie “you are?” He said, thinking.
That’s when an idea popped in his mind. “Charlie I really hate to ask you a favor, especially this, but I was wondering… if maybe… you could… ask sera if I could come to heaven to meet with them too?” Lucifer pleaded.
“I promise char, I’ll be on my best behavior I’ll be with bodyguards or anyone to look after me, I’ll let you and Vaggi have your alone time, I just REALLY want to talk to them about something.” Lucifer anxiously asked.
Charlie’s brows furrowed and she thought.
“I’ll ask. No guarantees though. Come with me to speak with Sera though.” Charlie shrugged.
Lucifer pumped his fist in the air and acknowledged his silent win.
As Charlie and Lucifer stepped into the heaven sanctuary in the center of hell, Lucifer gripped onto the brim of his hat in his hands.
He hadn’t seen sera in months. Not since he was used as a weapon to take over heaven, and he hadn’t even talked to her before fucking passing out.
They stepped into a golden room, both sitting down at a diamond shaped table, waiting for there to be a glow.
As the seats before them started to illuminate, the image of Emily and sera came into view.
“Hey! Why back so soon?” Emily asked, a puzzled yet happy look on her face at the sight of her friend.
“Actually, my dad had something to discuss with you both.” Charlie said, turning to Lucifer, whose face flushed gold.
Sera’s eyes widened a bit at the sight of him. They barely spoke at all. Typically it was Adam who went to meeting to see Lucifer while the exterminations were happening, so he hadn’t seen her in quite some time.
“Hey s-, sera…” Lucifer stumbled over his words.
“It’s been a while.” Sera said firmly, unsure where their relationship stood at the moment.
“It has.” Lu replied awkwardly.
Emily and Charlie exchanged cringing looks.
“Oh, well, go get to what I was going to ask of you was maybe, if it wasn’t too much trouble I could join Charlie… in heaven…?” Lucifer squeaked, bracing for impact.
“Pardon?” Sera said, stunned.
“I’ve never really met you,” Emily shrugged, “but I’m sure you’re awesome. But I have heard that being a fallen angel isn’t a good rep… so I guess if we have someone follow you around or something, we should be fine, it’s ok with me as long as it is with sera.” Emily said, gesturing to sera.
“Lucifer, you have not seen heaven in countless millennia, why now.” Sera demanded.
Lucifer winced, though he knew the question was a valid one.
“I have more to talk about with you if I go visit heaven with Charlie, and I guess… I miss it.” Lucifer sighed.
Sera’s eyebrows furrowed at the news.
“I understand,” she sighed, “I agree with Emily. You may come up to heaven, but you will be heavily guarded. We can extend the visit to two days so we have enough time to talk to Charlie and you.” Sera concluded.
Lucifer jumped out of his seat to hug Charlie, a grin on his face.
What would he talk with sera about you may ask? Well getting his ability to hurt sinners back to kill the radio demon of course!
Lucifer set a heavy case on his bed and opened it, filling it with rubber ducks.
“Just packing the necessities!” He said proudly to Vaggi and Charlie as they watched him throw his favorite ducks into the case.
Vaggi sighed, clearly at peace with the fact she, nor Charlie can get him to pack the basic items.
“We’ll be there for a day, and stay overnight just so we have more time there and we can go through everything.” Charlie reminds everyone.
Vaggi took Charlie’s hand smiling. It’s weird for her too to be allowed back in heaven.
“Your highness, we’ll be leaving tomorrow so I suggest you get some rest to be up and ready tomorrow at 8 for the portal. Meet up im the lobby please.” Vaggi says respectfully.
“Again, Charlie’s girlfriend-“ Lucifer paused mid sentences as Charlie whispered in his ear, “I mean Vanni- oh, I mean Vaggi, call me Lu! Or daddy- wait no, whatever you want, don’t care. Just not ‘your highness’, that’s too formal, ew.” Lu over cringed, Being all leader-y and upfront was more liliths forte.
Vaggi grinned shyly and nodded. Charlie excitedly looked between them, happy they both liked each other.
“Anyways! Vags and I are gonna go to bed, you should try and sleep too, dad.” Charlie said, taking vaggis hand and walking to the door.
Lucifer nodded and watched his door close. He looked back at his suitcase full of yellow, and sighed.
He sat down on the floor, back resting on the side of his bed and looked at the family portrait hanging up on the wall. It was moments like these that he missed Lilith. That he missed when his family was whole.
He scowled at the thought of Alastor disrespecting him and Lilith the other day. And lucifer hated most of all that Alastor found his way into his thoughts.
He hated that he’d found his private thoughts, his property, his obligation to his own ranting and talks had been violated.
Lucifer tried to go to bed. He really did. But it seemed that no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t find his way to sleep. So he did his favorite and only coping mechanism- making ducks.
Lucifer sat up from his bed and pulled the covers off, getting up, and opening his desk drawer to see little white rubber ducks, uncolored.
With a sigh, he sat down, grabbing a paint brush, and got to work, dipping into yellow paints.
As hours went by, he added more and more ducks to his collection, some similar to others, some unique, some resembling people he’d come across after so many millennia of living.
Though to be fair, he wasnt living. He was waiting. Waiting for tomorrow to come in hopes maybe something would turn out ok. Like make Lilith would come back, or Charlie wouldn’t give up on him, or maybe something would feel right. Just waiting.
Waiting for something better.
The dread had already become a normal noise in Lucifer’s head as his under eyes became dark and his wrist tired from painting.
Eventually, the sun had shown and he saw no point I’m trying to compete with the sun for rest.
So, he hopped up, wobbling a bit from fatigue, and quickly transformed into clothing and his suitcase.
As lucifer found himself in the lobby, mug in hand, waiting for Charlie and Vaggi, a voice rang out, “now what could his majesty be doing at this early hour?” Alastor questioned.
Usually Lucifer would’ve jumped at the sudden noise. But he was so exhausted that his eyes only moved towards the sound.
“Bambi, I’m not in the mood, if you must go on bothering people, talk to your maid or whatever.” Lucifer groaned, rubbing his eyes.
Alastors expression tightened. That wasn’t the reaction he wanted. He wanted fear, anger.
“Rude,” Alastor muttered, crossing his arms.
“Yeah, yeah, sit on a dick. Bellhop, I have had a shit night, I’m just waiting for Charlie and Vanastasia or whatever. So how about if you run off and go fuck yourself.” Lucifer said sternly.
He was done. Alastor has constantly been a bother. Trying to steal Charlie away, incessantly annoying him, teasing him, parading Lucifer’s private thoughts and feelings, mocking his failed marriage, the list can go on.
Alastor growled at the reply and hand tightened around his staff.
“Pardon?” He snarled, getting irritated.
“Sorry, I said SIT ON A DICK.” Lucifer yelled, “oh yeah, and don’t forget GO FUCK YOURSELF.” Lucifer continued, eyes starting to grow red with annoyance.
“Woah woah WOAH. What’s going on??” Charlie asked as she walked in, looking at Alastor and Lucifer.
“Nothing sweetie. Don’t worry. Are you all ready to go?” Lucifer asked Charlie and vaggi as they approached.
“Now where might you lot be going?” Alastor questioned, trying to pry.
“We’re going to heaven!” Charlie answered, the thought of Lucifer and Alastor fighting seeming to leave her mind.
“Oh?” Alastor raised a brow, “well Charlie, if you’ve come to say goodbye to your father before you leave, just know he’s in a mood.”
Charlie cocked her head, a bit confused, “uh, actually, dad’s coming with us. We talked to sera and Emily, and they’re cool with it, we’re all staying the night so we’ll be back tomorrow.”
Alastors hands tightened around his staff as he looked to Lucifer whose eyes seemed to brighten in excitement.
“Now why would the king of hell need to go to heaven? Care to share those juicy details?” Alastor asked, doing a little radio host announcement tone into his staff.
“NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!” Lucifer stomped, scowling.
Charlie and Vaggis eyebrows raised at the yelling and both mentally pleaded with whatever divine being would listen to please let the portal open now!
“My, my! So on edge, so childish.” Alastor commented.
Lucifer fumed as Alastor laughed at him.
“Look at you! The ‘king of hell’, though instead of demanding respect you’re just a sad insect at the mercy of those you are designed to rule. How pitiful.” Alastor taunted.
Vaggi finally stepped in, “Alastor that’s enough. You have no right to speak to anyone like that, especially Charlie’s dad, and most importantly, the KING OF HELL.” Vaggi reminded.
Alastor sighed, “very well, I’ll allow you all to get back to your excursions. Bring me back a souvenir!” He called as he finally walked away.
Lucifer -still angry- exhaled deeply, trying to let go of any anger and tension sticking to his bones.
“Oooookay, anyways, who’s ready for an awesome trip to heaven?” Charlie added.
