(i haven’t played the previous dragon age games this is just from the criticisms ive heard of veilguard [which is my only exposure to the series] so far and context clues) i feel like a lot of ppl are missing that the point of veilguard is facing yourself and that’s why a lot of the conflicts are one note in that direction as opposed to what ive heard of the previous games. like im p sure rook and the companions are supposed to mirror solas’s conflict of facing his actions and their consequences or whatever idk

i think there’s something so interesting abt the fact that felix’s actions are all reflected in one act of cowardice. he was too much of a coward to tell jack he couldn’t be sober, just this once, to drive his kids home. this led him to drive drunk and kill his best friend’s kids. and then, that same perpetual cowardice led him to never pick up the phone. to bury the kids’ corpses where nobody would ever find them. to harbor their belongings. to deny the waltens closure. and in the end, he was too much a coward to kill himself. he dug his own grave, and he refused to lie in it.
