“The wives of the Prophet ﷺ the best of women were still human.
At times, they even distanced themselves briefly.
Yet despite this, they remained women of righteousness, dignity, and respect.
And the Prophet ﷺ the best of men responded not with harshness or oppression, but with patience, wisdom, and mercy.
‘Umar (رضي الله عنه) warned his daughter out of sincere concern:
“Do not go too far, lest Allah becomes angry due to the anger of His Messenger ﷺ.”
This was not control it was care for her relationship with Allah and His Messenger, and a reminder of adab (manners) and حدود (limits).
Islam is balanced and just:
A man is commanded to be kind, patient, and never oppressive.
A woman is commanded to have respect, good character, and not cross limits.
Neither ظلم nor disrespect is accepted from either side.
This hadith is not a justification for bad behaviour.
Not for a woman to shout, insult, or humiliate.
Nor for a man to be harsh, controlling, or abusive.
Both are wrong. Both are ظلم.
The beauty of Islam is this:
It does not deny human emotions it guides them.
The Sahabah were real people.
Marriage has real challenges.
But Islam calls us to mercy, balance, and justice.
“Live with them in kindness.” (Qur’an 4:19)
