At Wiskayok High, everyone knows everything about everyone… or at least they think they do.
When an anonymous account starts posting secrets about the Yellowjackets, it’s all jokes at first—rumors,
confessions, the kind of things you’d laugh off in the group chat. But the posts get more specific. More personal. And suddenly, things that were never meant to be said out loud are everywhere.
Friendships start to crack. Relationships get messy. And as Jackie Taylor and Shauna Shipman are pushed further apart, it becomes clear that whoever is behind the account isn’t just watching— they’re trying to tear them apart.
Because some secrets don’t just come out. They’re used.

anyone who has been reading ‘i am a moth that just wants to share your light’ i’m so sorry for the delayed chapter. i tore my ACL and fractured my knee 😖 ig the AO3 curse is real.
i’m locked in now and you guys will be getting some chapters.
this scene is so fucking insane for a lot of reasons, and there’s so much to say about it, but here are the main two things i took away from it:
A) not only does this dream version jackie feel so much more like real-jackie, but B) it’s also the first time we see shauna envision jackie as anything but what she’d been in life.
shauna’s hallucinations are based on memory. (visually, not so much auditorily. hallucination-jackie says a lot of things real-jackie never would.) her mind can’t conjure any image of jackie she hasn’t already seen.
shauna always sees jackie as she exists in her mind: wearing her uniform, wearing the clothes she died in; as her fourteen-year-old self.
but then she dreams of jackie in the grocery store, and it’s nothing shauna remembers. because jackie never got to be this.
she never got to go to college, to get space from shauna and come back to find her with a clear head on her shoulders, to dye her hair brown and experiment with her sense of self.
yet, shauna dreams of a world in which she did.
she dreams of a life where she’s still paying penance for all the things she’s done, but where jackie appears to have moved on, changed, and is thriving; all while shauna bags groceries, drowing in her own misery.
and the only thing that can snap shauna out of this monotony, out of this prison of her own making, is jackie.
(this then parallels with shauna seeing melissa’s “perfect” life and calling her out on living a lie. shauna likes to think of herself as self aware—even though she’s anything but—and this dream reminds the audience that shauna, to some degree, knows she’s living a lie. she knows she’s not allowed to have a normal life; she’s done too many horrible things.)
(that’s what’s happening in the adult timeline: shauna’s letting go of the lie and embracing the violent truth.)
of course, dream-jackie acknowledges that she’s dead, so it’s not a true fantasy come to life. i don’t think shauna will ever be able to imagine a world where jackie lived, no matter how much she tries, or how much she wants to.
shauna’s never been capable of seeing jackie differently than how she appeared in life. but this jackie comes to her, different as can be, but still jackie, more jackie than any other version.
which makes me think this was *actually* jackie, not a figment of shauna’s imagination. this was the real, true jackie, looking mournfully at shauna, wishing things could be different. but hey, they should’ve known better than to expect anything different, don’t you think?
in conclusion: jackie taylor, you will ALWAYS haunt the narrative <3
I am rewatch Yellowjackets S1 and I noticed something I hadn't ever thought about before in the seance scene. Throughout the show Shauna is used as an outlet for a lot of the yellowjackets darkest parts. Shauna often did violent things (helping Melissa cut Bens achilles heal, being the one expected to end Nat during the first draw, and so on) and these were all things the team agreed with as things that needed to be done. They all had equal parts in the dark things they were doing despite Shauna being the one to physically do it.
I say this because whilst watching the seance scene it finally clicked to me about how long they have been doing this. Shauna is the one who's body and being is used (like all other times later on) to feed dark things through. They are literally attempting to talk to something demonic (if they did or not) and used Shauna to do so.
It makes me wonder if this was a regular thing they did subtly and to a lower extreme, even before they crashed and it makes me wish we had more scenes before the crash so we could have gained more insight on their regular day to day lives and their personalities before the trauma.
Or this could be the point they did begin to use Shauna as the outlet for their darkness.
i dunno if people have talked about this before, but i do think jackie’s habit of not being able to compliment someone she’s close to (shauna), without insulting them first does come from her mom. with what little we saw of mrs. taylor we know she was veryyy comfortable giving backhanded compliments, even to those she should have supportive relationships with (shauna & jeff). and the logical step forward that mrs. taylor would employ similar tactics to get jackie to do/appear like she wanted wouldn't surprise me. anyway, i think jackie learned that freely uplifting someone you intimately know is too vulnerable (if it wasn’t, why can’t her mom do it?), so she’s stuck in this limbo of wanting to have pure loving relationships (with shauna especially) but not having the tools to facilitate them.
there’s so many layers to shauna and travis being flip sides to the same coin…
shauna is so easily able to comfort javi in the wake of the crash and coach dying. something travis is unable to do because he simply has no idea how he should.
meanwhile it is so easy for travis to gain jackie’s attention simply because he is a man. he reaches a level of physical intimacy with jackie that shauna never could despite how badly she wanted it.
and then they both lost that person out there in the wilderness. that person they wanted to connect with so badly. the person that they hurt because sometimes it’s hard to show love the way we want to.
and all they have left is a dress and some drawings. and each other… reminders of who they wanted to be. who they couldn’t be. who shared the connection they longed for so much then and especially now that jackie and javi are gone.
Also the way the directors swap the expected depictions of grief for the two character because of their gender. Societal norms are irrelevant in the wilderness and that shows with how they deal with the deaths of Jackie and Javi.
Shauna, as a woman, is subconsiously (and often in the 90s directly) taught to internalize her pain. She does this to begin with by emotionally shutting down, but all that anger is released like a band snapping when her baby dies. She externalizes her rage towards Lottie and this is where she beats her near to death.
Travis, however, is shown to turn any pain and sadness into anger and push it outwards, just like men in society. Travis follows these societal norms like Shauna in the beginning. When his dad dies he struggles to regulate his emotions in anyway other than anger. He can't seem to be vulnerable even for the sake of Javi. But, when Javi dies, these walls are completely stripped to their barest form as he breaks down and cries. He leans on the others for an emotional support and shows vulnerability.
Travis breaking down over Javi's death parallels subtly to Shauna beating up Lottie because it shows them both stripped down to their barest most human selves in two different but similar ways. It is interesting to find grief reflected so differently in two characters who should represent them opposingly.
