do you ever just crave domesticity? to coming home to a partner, meld into them like you do your bed after a long day, soak your mind in the serenity of theirs like a warm bath to soothe the knots in your body, wrap yourself in their warmth and just fucking sigh from pure comfort
idk if I’ve posted about this before but by far the strangest things that’s happened to me in retail was the time someone’s total came out to my birth-year and I said “hey! that’s the year I was born!” and then the next customer’s total came out to like $12.57 and just bc I’m a weirdo I said “hey! that’s the year I was born!” and without missing a fucking beat this like, 70+ year old man said
“Ah! Another like me! We’re few and far between these days, aren’t we?”
And I was like oh man this guy’s sense of humor really aligns with mine! And I laughed and made some other joke about being immortal and thought that was the end of it,
but this man.
He stood by the register for five more minutes. Maybe more. Which let me tell you is an EXCRUTIATING amount of time for something like this to happen.
And he just kept upping the ante!! He starting talking about some REALLY specific details regarding day-to-day life in the 1300s to the point I started getting worried that I’d misled a genuinely immortal being to believe I am also immortal.
He eventually politely left when I got too busy with other customers to awkwardly respond.
Who the fuck was that guy.
I think it’s also important to mention this happened at Cracker Barrel.

He is so DELIGHTED
“They want to hire a part of me.”
Everything about this, from Carrie’s viscerally presented and excellent point, to the pun, to the look on Stephen’s face like he just fell in love. Everything is so, so good.
Also good manners aren’t a turn on, they’re the bare minimum expectation.
Honest question….
Because I really wanna know what you think. And not just what you think, but why you think the way you do about this.
Is addiction, in your opinion, a choice or a disease?
And yes. I’m being serious.
Always saw it as disease, seeing as acciction and withdrawal symptoms are all too real
actually to expand on this with my own experiance.
I love caffine. Tea. Coffee. Red Bull. I live on caffine.
I know it is hardly even counted as a drug, but caffine is an addictive.
At uni was drinking 9 cups of coffee a day and energy drinks on top of that
If i didnt have any caffine, i’d have headaches all day, be irritable, tired, stressed and snappy. As soon as i had a coffee or tea or whatever, i’d be fine again.
And thats CAFFINE?!?!?
I have no idea what “real” drugs or addictive substances do to peoples bodies
The choice is to begin taking the substance that you can become addicted to. Its more of a “chemical in your system” thing that your body depends on to function and feel normal.
Addiction is more of a “dependency” than a disease - something that the body thinks it needs to rely on to survive.
It’s not just about substances.
People have gambling addictions. Shopping addictions. Porn addictions.Food addictions. Sex addictions.
None of these require a chemical to be dependant on.
Its still an imbalance of chemicals in the brain when it becomes dependant on the routine.
Sorry I missed that point.
