"Goodness no,” he answered, his voice ending with a sort of huff as he began to walk off slightly, baffled by the boy’s question. A human was not the sort of being that he took the time to reap himself.
He was grasping at straws, then, trying to ascertain some reason why they would be here together, though he came up with none. "I... nothing's wrong, right? I mean, the angels and all, but... that doesn't affect you, right?"
Death probably had better things to be doing. Sam didn't particularly care.

“Was that a threat?”
He tries to smile, but it just comes out as a grimace, so he drops it before Sam can see.
”What about you? You feelin’ alright?”
"Just another day, right?"
On any given day, there's somebody to mourn, usually someone dead because of them. At least, that's what he's going to tell himself if it makes it easier.
"--See you in five."
"Way t’be blunt," Benny shook her head, not wanting to talk. Wasn’t it enough that she worked so hard to find them? "What’s your best guess?" she wondered what he was thinking.
"Dean’s th’only family I got brothuh, and I guess you too," she admitted, pushing her hair back. "You saw me back there, I didn’t want t’be her anymore, but here I am and I really don’t want t’do it alone," she swallowed hard.
What was his best guess? Not that. His best guess had been all about Dean, all about her wanting to get back with his good friend, Team Purgatory reunited or something like that, all about isolating Sam. Again. What he didn't expect was an answer that was-- at least seemingly-- honest. Not wanting to be alone, that was something Sam could relate to.
--He hated that. It made it harder to deny the vampire.
One more question, though. "How'd you get back? Any idea?"
--there are a lot more of you all today than there were yesterday morning. hi there. if any of you lovely people (new or old) would like to do the thing, let me know.

He didn't tell Dean he was leaving, though in hindsight, he probably should have. Then again, it wasn't necessarily pre-meditated, as he had thought he could make it through just fine. After all, it was just another day, the anniversary of another death that was, at least partially, his fault, right? He should have been able to forget about it, drown it out with more alcohol than usual and more research than necessary.
But it took strength to do that, and Sam wasn't strong.
He'd stolen a car (he wouldn't dare take Dean's Baby away, especially not on a day like this) and driven into town, no destination in mind. In the end, he found himself at a diner, as per usual, though he was far from hungry. But it was warm inside and the waitress gave him no flack for just ordering a water. From his booth, he could see a mother and her young son walking by, and in the ultimate cliche, he watched them with obvious jealousy and longing.

"I haven’t the slightest idea.”
He didn’t normally admit such things, but, what else was there to say?
That was more unnerving than it probably should have been and a sense of panic shoots through him.
"You think you're here for me?"

"If you require something along the lines of resurrection, I would not suggest staying.”
"What? No, I didn't even-- I mean, why-- did Dean call for you?"

”Yeah. You do that. Five minutes—”
"Five minutes. Longer and I'm... eating all your pie."
That's the most humor anyone would get out of him today,
"It was a joke darlin’, but now that y’mention it, I’m a little offended," she shrugged.
She took a breath, arms crossed. She was on the defense just as much as him. She never thought she was going to see Sam again, and seeing him now was just a coincidence. Then again, she had been looking all over, she was bound to run into one of those boys sooner or later. “If it makes y’feel any better, I honestly didn’t think I was gonna find ya. I just got lucky brothuh.”
"And why, exactly, do you need us?"
The question pushed past his lips before he had a chance to filter it or rephrase it more politely, though even if he had thought about it, there was a very real possibility he would have kept the phrasing just the same. It wasn't exactly a trying question, even he could guess the answer, but he wanted to hear it from Benny herself.

“Just like she didn’t want us to be hunters in the first place, right?
—Look, it’s just—I’ll get up. Just give me a few.”
"That's not the--"
"Yeah, alright. I'll, uh... I'll open a six pack."
𝕞𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕣𝕚𝕖𝕤 𝕠𝕟 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕨𝕒𝕝𝕝.
”No. M’not goin’ anywhere.”
"...Mom wouldn't want this, Dean."

Not today.
"Look, Dean, I get it, but... c'mon, let's get something to eat."
