Hello everyone, unfortunately as much as I hope that this was a fun announcement, it's not.
I hope that everyone and especially my followers read this because this is very important. Especially since I feel very strongly about this topic.
I have just received a dm from one of my very active followers and mutuals, confessing to be that they're actually a minor who had been interacting with my NSFW posts.
I would like to preface this by saying that i truly believe that writers / bloggers who engage, write and post NFSW content have a duty to make sure that their content and blog are at the very least properly labeled.
I know that it's impossible to check every single blog who interacts with your posts, especially since it's not unheard of for minors to lie about their age.
That being said, I think that as responsible adults, we should all try our best to avoid these situations, even if they're out of our control.
And to the minors that DO interact with NSFW blogs and posts, crossing the owner's boundaries, despite the very clear warnings, I would like you all to understand something.
We don't put these sort of limitations just to be assholes. These labels and warnings are enforced for your own sake, even if you might not realize it.
Someone blocking you because you're a minor interacting with NSFW content is not doing it to be a prude. They are doing it for you and your protection.
I would personally know because I used to be a minor who used to ignore warnings, boundaries, I used to read, like and interact with NSFW content across many different platforms.
I am not proud of it and it's not easy to share something like this because I'm sure that I'll be called a hypocrite. But I have to share it so you would know that I'm doing this for a reason.
Interacting with that type of content at such a young age did me so much harm. I never realized it then, but I can understand it now.
Your interaction with these sort of things can put you in danger, and it might seem dramatic but I assure you that it's the truth.
Especially, when you're on a platform like this one where you are able to message people.
It is a very easy way for very bad people to inappropriately communicate with vulnerable minors.
And I will never, ever allow myself, my blog or my work to become a gateway for something so heinous.
Therefore, I will be going through my followers and my taglist, anyone who doesn't have their age stated on their blog will be blocked, even if you were just interacting with my fluff / non-NSFW content.
I will be doing a purge tomorrow to give a change for everyone to either add their ages to their bio or at least to comment their age on this post, otherwise, expect to be blocked.
Again, this is for your sake. And I hope all the mints in here understand that you're not only putting yourself in danger but you're also putting us in difficult situations that could turn very bad, especially if you had been messaging or commenting back and forth with an adult blog owner about anything NSFW.
