Samuel worked in ways he wishes he knew how to manually control and understand at times. To describe him as a walking contradiction would be an understatement; though if it had to be simply put, he could easily be compared to a light switch that held an on and off function. He was either here, or not at all on days; no one quite knows which side they’re dealing with, due to how unpredictable he naturally can be. Despite him always on the go, go, go, and constantly up for new challenges and big crowds, there were moments where it would irk him to no end – the sight and sound of unnecessary crowd among him irritating him, hitting his ear drums like a pedal pounding against the hard surface of a drum. This night was one of those nights; where he found the scavenger hunt to be awfully childish, where he found that it was a whole lot better being on his own, selfishly smoking joints after joints, popping unlabelled pills.
“What the fuck is going on?” Sameer cursed loudly through his hoarse throat, light chuckles following uncontrollably; slipping out of his lips like water from a loose tap. He had just popped his head out from his room, the sound of sirens and flashing lights from his window catching his attention after a few delayed reaction from the lighted joint that is still placed in between his fingers.
scavenger hunts had always been to her liking, a kindred soul some may say. the innocence of searching and playful jabs brought forth a fire to her eye. she had a competitive nature, and the night only brought forth the worst in it attempting to ignite a fight within other teams — hoping they’d self destruct so her poorly constructed team could rise. the game had inevitably taken a turn for the worst, blood curdling screams heard across the beach. though she’d been fond of games she’d never truly learned how to face serious issues. she was terrified, leading her to the one place she’d always felt safe.
it was as if instinct had lead her towards his room, slender digits wiping the remnants of smudged mascara. she’d been drenched, previously submerged in a pool of water for a prized possession ( a glowstick, a damn glowstick and ten points. ) she’d left water droplets in her path as she arrived, short of breath from all the running that night. “there’s a shoe,” she mumbled, impressed she could still articulate. she felt weak, forced to face the reality rather than drink it away. “there’s a fucking bloody shoe, which means there’s a body, likely evie’s.” her voice was frantic, as if facing twenty one years of demons in a single moment. “if there’s a body there’s a killer. there’s a fucking killer.” an ironic laugh escaped her lips as tears welled up in her eyes once again, resting her back against the wall as she collapsed to the floor. “we’re all gonna die. we were brought here to die.”
