pinponpanpon 3/1
My hottest fanfiction take is I think people should stop posting multi-fandom oneshots as a single fic with like 50+ chapters and instead post them as individual fics
started to play genshin again and lowkey its kinda peak
pinponpanpon !!
besties we should be allowed to enjoy winter time.
I know a few ppl who like winter get bashed bc the season means suffering for so many. Bitter weather braved bc their jobs are needed for survival. Worsened phsyical and mental health due to the seasons nature.
But this isn't winters fault, winter was at one time our friend. Welcomed in with bright lights to let the sun rest, with music and friends gathered together to bring joy where it might be hidden, endless stars to make stories about. It used to bring rest, time to think, time to be human more than survive. And your OWED these things and the lack of it is a straight up failure of a so called Advanced society. And Bestie, I'm sorry but it's something companies and capitalism can pry from my cold dead hands. You deserve better and I will get it for you.
I used to hate winter until I realized everything I hated about it was just the fact that I had to do the same kind of work in winter as I did in summer.
I have to scrape off a car everyday and stay at work until the sunlight is gone, treating winter as some kind of thing to work around instead of working with.
Winter would be so much better if I only had to go outside to bringing in firewood or other necessary chores for survival, or to have fun, and if I lived in a household big enough that there was always people to talk to and hang out with.
This is exactly what I mean! What if instead of braving the cold, to to go a job you hate, we just like... hung out??
Potluck and communal dinners every so often at a community centre. Dancing and decorations that your neighbors and you built.
Craft and workshop gathering spaces to create, to collaberate. Libraries and knitting circles. Malls with indoor playgrounds for all ages. Gathering spaces for us to socialize without consumerism hanging over us.
Winter festivals, like proper ones. With endless colorful lights and cocoa and sledding and giant snow structures people built bc they wanted too. With food and love everywhere.
What if we had accessable and clear sidewalks for ppl to travel? What if we had a good transportation system that got you to your commuinty centre, craft groups, or fave coffee shop?
These are things we could be doing, just like summer could be radically different and much more tolerable under a more caring and kind system. I will one day make sure winter is a joy for others instead of a burden.
Winter could look like this if we all got our shit together!! >.> (stares at governments being dumb)
here in hawai'i we only have two seasons: wet and dry. obviously I knew about four seasons from media and travel, but I didn't live in winter til I went to the mainland for college.
my heart is in the islands, so I knew I would always come home, but it was fun to experience fall and winter. changing leaves, silent snow, cute cold weather clothes (omg boots and scarves?? yes please)... there are times I almost miss it.
we don't "live" in the snow, but i AM super excited for when Maunakea gets its winter snowcap! there's something spectacular about going to the beach and seeing snow on Maunakea
Maunakea from Hilo Bay on Moku o Keawe (big island)
snow on Maunakea as lava flows from Mauna Loa
bringing it back to anti-capitalism, the wet season is also a time of peace.
Makahiki, a four month holiday that begins with the rise of Makali'i (Pleiades) at the same time the sun sets, predominantly in honor of Lono, god of agriculture, fertility, rain, music, and peace.
war and work are completely outlawed, and you're supposed to spend the time taking care of yourself, taking care of your family, and honoring your ancestors and community.
and now? there are festivities, like the 'Ikuwā Festival at 'Imiloa Astronomy Center (highly recommend!!) and sometimes it's called "Aloha Week" but that's usually a way to promote it to tourists
all in all, you can bet your ass everyone is still working and still warring the whole time.
we gotta bring back Makahiki!
taken with the idea of modern au cyrene being an etsy witch stelle paid to curse lygus. bonus if she just happens to accidentally have hired the one legit person on etsy and now that one philosophy professor she really hates for yapping about plato so much is stuck in a memory loop. oops
Hello everyone! I'd like to present to you:
Solarpunk daylight setting system!!!
What is this? This is a way of categorizing and defining solarpunk futures by how far in the future they are by using the natural daylight concept!
The Solarpunk daylight system is supposed to help define your setting, but it's not supposed to limit you in any way!!! It's also supposed to make it easier to search for particular settings in stories :D
🌱Morning Solarpunk 🌄
(Today or Seedling Solarpunk)
Morning Solarpunk resembles the world of today, it resembles the sprouts of solarpunk in societies and our current struggle under capitalism, it resembles the beginning of change.
Morning solarpunk can be happening in twenty-first century or prior.
Defining elements:
Everything you can do today to be solarpunk is what morning solarpunk is! Visibly mended clothing and tools, art on the streets in all forms, guerrilla gardening and permaculture gardens, communities uniting and people joining climate action.
Peaceful Anarchist, Violent World by kayas-kosmos
🪴Noon Solarpunk ☀️
(Tomorrow or Flowering Solarpunk)
Noon solarpunk resembles post-capitalist world or world where significant effort in abolishing capitalism is done. Things are already better, but the scars of the old world are still visible.
Noon Solarpunk is supposed to show us better times and answer the question, what happens on the next day after revolution and in the following years.
Defining elements:
Taking lots of stuff from morning solarpunk and making them more pronounced, repurposed old infrastructure, we can see new solarpunk architecture (sustainable and integrated into nature) appearing, all tech is powered by renewable energy and easily repairable, community gardens everywhere.
Art by mimiitambonne
🌻Evening Solarpunk 🌇
(The day after tomorrow or Ripening Solarpunk)
Evening solarpunk resembles late stage solarpunk world, pure science fiction! This is stories of our successors and how they are living in new refined world!
Defining elements:
Defined by being futuristic, practically unrecognizable from modern age, new hi-tech solarpunk technologies (low tech stuff still exists btw), go as CRAZY as you CAN to show marvelous bright future!
Art by thalieshelen
Things are bound to change and get more refined, please submit your ideas on how this system can be improved! :D
This is a great idea! It made me think someone could probably call morning solarpunk Sunrise solarpunk (to emphasise the sun) and that made me think of Sunset solarpunk.
That could be a genre of solarpunk stories about people in a solarpunk world fighting to maintain it, because what if there are people who try to roll the progress back? Trying to make the sun "set" on the eco friendly movement. I think having media that shows us what to do in a future with reactionaries could be helpful, because that's kind of what we're going through now with conservatives reactions to civil rights movements. It could help us make plans for what to do in that scenario, and honestly I think some of those plans could help us now.
So, like, universal basic income.
One of the things I’ve heard people say is how, you know, you need income as a motivation to make people work. And I’ve heard some great arguments against that.
But also.
There are a lot of low-paid jobs that actually make the world a crappier place. Like, if we could just pay everyone in the fast fashion industry to stay home and not go to work, the world would be a much better place. If we paid people enough that they didn’t need to work in factories, then large-scale manufacture of crappy stuff wouldn’t be feasible anymore.
Like, we’re basically in a post-scarcity society. We have more than enough food and clothing for everyone. This manic capitalist mindset where we force people to go to jobs they hate to remove value from the world is insane, right?
And maybe if we instituted this we’d lose fast food corporations and stuff. But I bet they’d be replaced by small restaurants run by people who are passionate about what they do.
This is what I've been saying- like fossil fuel companies, we need to be turning away from some industries.
And with automation less people need to work. In medical Europe for example I've heard it said that 75% of the population had to work to grow crops. Today like 2% of the population in some countries has to farm.
This is probably going to happen in a lot of industries.
I think we need to begin changing how we think about work. We shouldn't think that a human has to find paid work in order to justify their lives.
We should want everyone to live their lives as they want ideally, whether that means going back to school, volunteering, making art discussing philosophy, taking care of their communities and families or staying at home and taking care of their pets.
There's more than one way to benefit society, and I personally don't think humans exist for society I think societies exist to serve humans. We should try to create one that makes everyone as happy as possible.
Just because it creates jobs doesn't mean it adds value.
I don't know I'm not done talking about it. It's insane that I can't just uninstall Edge or Copilot. That websites require my phone number to sign up. That people share their contacts to find their friends on social media.
I wouldn't use an adblocker if ads were just banners on the side funding a website I enjoy using and want to support. Ads pop up invasively and fill my whole screen, I misclick and get warped away to another page just for trying to read an article or get a recipe.
Every app shouldn't be like every other app. Instagram didn't need reels and a shop. TikTok doesn't need a store. Instagram doesn't need to be connected to Facebook. I don't want my apps to do everything, I want a hub for a specific thing, and I'll go to that place accordingly.
I love discord, but so much information gets lost to it. I don't want to join to view things. I want to lurk on forums. I want to be a user who can log in and join a conversation by replying to a thread, even if that conversation was two days ago. I know discord has threads, it's not the same. I don't want to have to verify my account with a phone number. I understand safety and digital concerns, but I'm concerned about information like that with leaks everywhere, even with password managers.
I shouldn't have to pay subscriptions to use services and get locked out of old versions. My old disk copy of photoshop should work. I should want to upgrade eventually because I like photoshop and supporting the business. Adobe is a whole other can of worms here.
Streaming is so splintered across everything. Shows release so fast. Things don't get physical releases. I can't stream a movie I own digitally to friends because the share-screen blocks it, even though I own two digital copies, even though I own a physical copy.
I have an iPod, and I had to install a third party OS to easily put my music on it without having to tangle with iTunes. Spotify bricked hardware I purchased because they were unwillingly to upkeep it. They don't pay their artists. iTunes isn't even iTunes anymore and Apple struggles to upkeep it.
My TV shows me ads on the home screen. My dad lost access to eBook he purchased because they were digital and got revoked by the company distributing them. Hitman 1-3 only runs online most of the time. Flash died and is staying alive because people love it and made efforts to keep it up.
I have to click "not now" and can't click "no". I don't just get emails, they want to text me to purchase things online too. My windows start search bar searches online, not just my computer. Everything is blindly called an app now. Everything wants me to upload to the cloud. These are good tools! But why am I forced to use them! Why am I not allowed to own or control them?
No more!!!!! I love my iPod with so much storage and FLAC files. I love having all my fics on my harddrive. I love having USBs and backups. I love running scripts to gut suck stuff out of my Windows computer I don't want that spies on me. I love having forums. I love sending letters. I love neocities and webpages and webrings. I will not be scanning QR codes. Please hand me a physical menu. If I didn't need a smartphone for work I'd get a "dumb" phone so fast. I want things to have buttons. I want to use a mouse. I want replaceable batteries. I want the right to repair. I grew up online and I won't forget how it was!
glad this post is resonating with the local populace fr
kinda wish I had taken a photo of these before, but I’ve been doing some visible mending on my clothes recently :) the fashionable distressing had turned into slightly less fashionable gaping holes lol
thought it would be fun to try and continue the tree print onto the pants themselves to make it look like they were growing out—I’m not terribly good at embroidery bc I don’t do it very often but I think it turned out well!! yay :) I left some of the frayed edges in bc I liked the look, and I’m pretty happy with that decision \o/
This will be a romantic story like none that has come before
One of the foremost reasons I like solarpunk is that in the mainstream, being eco-friendly is about sacrifice. Don’t buy new things, don’t buy plastic, don’t take unnecessary trips—etc. It’s not sustainable unless you’re a saint. It’s exhausting to abstain from consumerism without having alternatives like the things Solarpunk emphasizes: community, resources held in common, sustainable hobbies like gardening and mending (and all other sorts of repair), free and accessible public transportation, etc. Solarpunk is about creating a world where being eco-friendly is about joy, not deprivation.
How do I block a word on TikTok
i hope that someday there will be no more advertisements ever again
