eLAC (Electronic Art Canvas)
This new digital device is the new canvas for the 21st century. No longer will artist be limited to the 'brush strokes' rendered on the computer screen. Artist have the free-range ability to move and paint like with traditional means.
-With the eL-pallet, the artist can select type of paint medium to use and mix and match colours.
-The eL-brush is a multi brush tool in one device. The brush hairs detect the colour in use with its tiny tensors and the amount of 'paint' on the brush.
-The eL-canvas is pressure sensitive. It reads the amount of pressure applied to it and the colour in use. It then instantaneously renders each and every stroke.
-With the eL-block, artist will also have access to the same type of editing features that are found in photoshop such as layers, undo, canvas size and zoom in. This detachable device is the main power source for the canvas and also the main hub to store and transfer every project into a USB or memory cards. This device even allows you to download a pre-existing images that artist can work with.

The Rainbow Goblins (as remembered by me)
In a time where creatures of fantasy roamed the Earth, there were 6 goblins that lived in caves and ate nothing but colour. The name of each goblin so happens to be the same name as the colour it ate and the colour of their skin. The area where these goblins dwell quickly becomes colourless and lifeless. Because of their incredible hunger, the six goblins must move to different caves in different lands almost every week.
One day, after a rainstorm, a rainbow appeared near the goblin's cave. Their eyes gleamed at its beauty, its brightness and most of all, its colour! They ran to the rainbow as fast as they could with their mouths wide open and their tongues wagging wildly. The 6 goblins jumped into the air and onto the rainbow. They ate and ate and ate some more. They ate to their hearts content and ate until they were full. The 6 goblins fell to the ground in satisfaction and watched as the rainbow fade away in pain.
From that point on, the goblins could not enjoy the taste of any other colour from anything else. All they want to eat are rainbows and all they ate were rainbows. Rainfall after rainfall, the goblins ate and drained the rainbow of its colour.
The rainbow had enough and had an idea spoil the appetites of the goblins. The next rainfall to appear was a big one, the biggest the goblins have ever seen. They knew a giant rainbow would appear in the clear sky. And one did. But as the goblins prepared themselves to feast they noticed that the rainbow did not touch the ground. The goblins were shocked and they panicked. They jumped up and cursed. Climbed on each other, on rocks and on trees. Now matter what they did they could not touch their magnificent meal. The 6 goblins became frustrated that they were tricked. They sulked back into their cave sad and hungry. As the rainbow disappeared into the sky, the goblins vowed to never leave their cave until the rainbow was in reach for them to eat.
So now, as we view the beauty of the rainbow, we ourselves will never be able touch it because if it ever does, the six goblins may appear and have the meal they have been waiting for.
The end
Assignment 3: Proposal
Based on one of the works of the legendary fictional novelist H.G. Wells, I, Venn Mostacho, will use the everyday object found in my house and create a devise capable of travelling through time.
Yes that's right... I'm building a TIME MACHINE!!!!
I have yet to determine what devises to use to create my marvellous masterpiece of time and travel. But, if television has taught me anything, I will require a Flux Capacitor to guide me through the my journey. For those who are not familiar, the flux capacitor is the key component to the DeLorean time machine used by 'the Doc' in the Back to the Future series.
====
There really isn't any reason why I chose to create a time machine. I think they are cool and it's an ambitious task to do.
I chose to use the concept set by H.G. Wells rather than the DeLorean from Back to the Future because its more imaginative. For Wells to conceive the idea of time travel goes is a demonstration of true creative thinking and imagination. For my design concepts, I look to the everyday and even the mundane for inspiration. It's a challenge for anyone to be inspired to create something so magnificent from something so simple.
I am excited to see how this project will turn out and how far I can push the limitations.
Wish me luck and I'll see you in the future!
New Story Concept
So I remembered a childhood story that I thought would be more fascinating to tell:
===
The Rainbow Goblins
The story goes: before the days of man, where creatures of fantasy roamed the lands, there were 6 small goblins who lived a cave and who only come out to eat. These are not your typical goblins however. These goblins only eat colour. The first goblin loves to eat the colour red, the second goblin enjoys drinking up the colour blue, the third lunches on anything green, the forth and fifth ate up the colours yellow and orange. The sixth and final goblin savoured the rare taste of violet. Because of their incredible hunger, the land around the cave is always brown and black. One day after a rain storm, a rainbow appeared near the goblin's cave. They were all drawn to it's beauty, it's brightness and most of all, it's colour! They ran to the rainbow as fast as they could with their mouths wide open and their tongues wagging wildly. The 6 goblins jumped into the air and onto the rainbow. They ate and ate and ate some more. They ate to their hearts content and ate until they were full. The 6 goblins fell to the ground in satisfaction and watched as the rainbow fade away. For a whole month, after it rains, a rainbow would appear near the cave of the goblins and once again the 6 goblins ate away ate it's magnificent colours. The rainbow had enough of the goblins and the pain they felt every time they ate away at it's colours. After the next rainfall, the rainbow appeared in the sky but this time, it didn't touch the ground. When the goblins reached the rainbow, they were in surprised that they couldnt reach their meal. They jumped up, climbed on each other, climbed on rocks and climbed on trees. Now matter what they did they could not touch the rainbow. The 6 goblins became frustrated and angry at the rainbow. They walked back into their cave sad and hungry and the rainbow disappeared happy. For a month the rainbow would appear and for a month, the goblins tried very hard and could not touch and taste those delicious colours. The goblins vowed that they will stay in their cave and never leave until the rainbow is with reach. So now, as we view the beauty of the rainbow, we ourselves will never be able touch it because if it ever does, the six goblins may appear and have the meal they have been waiting for.

Presentation Notes
For my presentation, I will be exploring 3D generated environments
topics to cover:
original conception?
development - timeline
current usage - popular applications such as gaming and movies
examples in games: Call of Duty: Black Ops, SIMS, Second Life
examples in movies: Avatar, Star Wars
experimental explorations - Daily Planet documentary about a company that is developing a game where the user moves objects with their mind
Examples to use:
"Intro to Virtual Reality"
Virtual Reality - Wikipedia
There isn't a direct linear line for the development of the VR or its tech, but wikipedia does its best to trace through history for its early origins. Early concepts of an artificial virtual environment can be traced to 1860's artist Baldessare Peruzzi and his 360 mural Sala delle Prospettive - a wall mural which filled an entire room.

Second Life
This video talks about the game and the real world social applications and influences that it's currently having.
Second Life is an online gaming community where users can 'live' in an online virtual environment, interact with other users (from around the globe) and customize their avatar and even their virtual surroundings.
Online gaming and the virtual experience can be taken to a whole new level if companies enter in the virtual environment and thereby creating an new method to research, test market, crowd sourcing, trend spotting and receive feedback on current to up and coming products for the real world.
Replication of Fifth's Avenue Apple Store
The video suggests that there is a possibility to use Second Life for online teaching and debating.
SIMS 3
The continuation of virtual doll housing and people simulator is taken to a new level. The latest version extends the virtual experience beyond the walls of the house. Virtual towns were created so the user's avatar can interact with an multitude of different characters and scenarios.
Expansion packs are available to allow the user's avatar to 'explore' more virtual environments
Online communities are available but not to the extent of Second Life
Sim City
The users are tasks with creating a city that will automatically run and operate under the guild lines the user states.
Call of Duty: Black Ops (insert little school girl shriek)
The latest in the Call of Duty franchise and one of the most anticipated games to date.
Mission orientated game where the user must complete their objectives
Online multi-gamer feature where the user can team up against another group of users, complete objectives or just relish the pleasure of killing someone with an assault rifle.
Real World Applications
Military Training

Bird and Orange
This image was created in Google Sketch and this was my first attempt at working in a 3D environment.
My most difficult challenge was trying adjust my mind into working in a 3D like environment. I am accustom to working on 2D surfaces (even though I can make it appear to be 3D) and moving the objects around the proper axis was incredibly annoying. For aid, I search through YouTube and I stumbled upon an How-To video on that showed how one person created a robot using Google Sketch. Immediately I began creating my own version but along the way I hit a couple of snags. In the video, there is a step where the creator made a mirror image of the right side of the robot and easily connected the blocks together. It took me nearly an hour just to find that option. I also found it difficult to correctly align the body parts together.
To much of my dismay, my I decided to chop down my robot into something more simpler. I connected together the original foot and head of the robot using a cylinder and tilted the head upward to create the appearance of a birds beak. I added colour to create some flavour and highlight certain parts (like a real bird) and for kicks I included an orange fruit (I learned how to make a sphere on Youtube as well).
Overall this experience was challenging but worth the stress. I look forward to learning more in class on how to create more difficult shapes
T in M Project 1: Storytelling
Searching for Perfection...
Christmas has always been a particularly stressful time for myself. My goal every year is to buy a gift that will out shine the one from last year, without draining my bank account dry. And every year I find myself shopping at Square One the night before Christmas Eve, better known as: ‘the worst possible time to shop for your presents’ day. This year’s expedition was by far the worst for me because not only did I NOT have a clue what to buy, nor the finances to purchase anything, the last gift on my list was my older sister Caryl. She is the type of person that will appreciate anything she receives. But the success of the gift lays in her initial reaction to opening the present. In other words how loud she screams.
An inspiration flashed before my mind as I saw the ‘perfect’ gift on television: a black t-shirt with a Jeff Dunham quote written: “Silence! I KEEEEEEEELLLLL You!” It was elegant in its simplicity and a quote stated by one of her favourite comedians. Soon after I find myself rushing around Square One and looking through all the specialty t-shirt stores. Unfortunately both Zero Edge and Hot Topics didn’t carry Dunham’s collection.
Saddened that I’d have to settle for a Chapter’s gift card, I headed out of Hot Topics and I nearly ran into a happy customer wearing a little green alien hat. It was Invader Zim, a cartoon that she was introduced to back in August and its all that she would talk about since then.
Could it be? Was it meant to be? A quick glance over and I see a display for of colourful Invader Zim t-shirts, hats and other random trinkets. I felt my Chirstmas spirits lift a little as I grabbed the medium… I mean small size of a brightly coloured blue shirt. I exhale a huge sigh of relief only conceive of another problem: do I have enough money?
Screw it. I’ll deal with the NSF fees after the holidays.
