Who's that Monster? Ruins Edition! (Promise in Patience)
*Villovispy–AT 4, DF 5. This willful tree is pretty insistent on getting you to follow it.
[*Villovispy is prancing and shaking its head teasingly.]
Meet the villovispy! The monsters throughout the underground are themed after various things, and the Ruins (nicknamed "Lower Ruins" due to its position but still technically Ruins) drew a lot of inspiration from different medieval European mythologies. The villovispy was originally inspired by the will o' the wisp and the kelpie, and then its name sort of sounded like "Weeping Willow", so that's where the design originated. There are 4 non-unique monsters (6 total, including the end encounter "TomTom" and the mini-boss "Doghest"). The villovispy also appears as an interactable NPC if it is not slain.
This took a g e s. Haha I am not a visual artist. Also, I don't have an animation program, so I animated the battle using Adobe Premiere Pro. However, the pixel art and idle animation were made through Pixel Studio. Yeah... I'm not doing this for ALL of them. Villovispy was the first non-unique monster I created, so I thought I may as well. Technically, I designed the tright first, conceptually, but I completed the villovispy first. Semantics.
