A quick peptalk/rant.
"We can't make our characters deeper and more serious in Witchlight" -Legends of Avantris cast Sorry, whose campaign is it? Whose characters? It's y'all's. If you want to play the characters with more depth and internal worlds, do it, fuck anyone who would have a problem with it. Y'all obviously had a blast playing Starlight and we all loved it.
IDK, I understand feeling obligated to do something because of fear of audience outcry, but there are deeper moments in Witchlight. Anyone who says the characters don't have depth wasn't paying attention to Kremy's fear of Garou, Frost's pining for companionship, or Gideon's anger about his slavery, or Gricko's woe about his mother, or Twig's complexity beneath the brownie silliness.
We won't even get into how complex and sad Torbek is under the "dumb, horny pervert" that much of the audience has flanderized him into or this would be an even longer essay post.
Anyone who says Witchlight characters don't have depth was apparently watching a different D&D podcast during episodes 41 and 46, or the end of 65, or, fuck, the end of episode 1 where the fairy dies, and they can argue with a wall so they'll have a debate opponent who can match their level of media literacy and intelligence.
I'm very tired of people who only watch the shorts expecting LoA to cater to what is funny and not what the story actually is - a solid blend of mostly humor but also depth, because Nikkie is an incredibly talented DM who can juggle both with ease.
IVE BEEN SAYING BRO genuinely, my favorite scenes of witchlight is those serious moments and Starlight EXPERTLY showed it, especially how GOOD they are at it
Yeah starlight was fun and silly at points but god they nailed that campaign, and I know they could do it with the depth of these versions of the characters especially, ESPECIALLY if they want to go deeper with these characters after Starlight
Maybe i’m bias cause after that final and that last session and just Nikkie DMing alone ESPECIALLY THAT ONE SCENE,NO SPOILERS, BUT FOR THOSE WHO SAW THEY KNOW—I know they could do it
