Brother Dearest
Chapter 20
True to his word, Draco arranged for Hermione to join him for his next therapy appointment. They arrived at the now-familiar office a few minutes before the scheduled time, Draco feeling even more anxious than he had on his first visit.
They sat quietly in the waiting room, not speaking as the minutes ticked by. Soon, it was time for them to go back. He took his usual seat on the grey sofa, although this time, Hermione sat right next to him.
Dr Green sat across from the couple, wearing a dove-grey suit with a light-green shirt under her blazer, her ankles crossed to the side. She gave them a faint smile, the pen poised elegantly in her hand. "Hermione, it's lovely to meet you. I've heard so much about you from Draco already."
He could see the surprise on his sister's face, but she quickly concealed it, smiling back. "It's lovely to meet you as well. Thank you for letting me join your session today."
"Of course. Can you tell me a little bit why you're here today? Draco, why don't you start?"
Draco shifted in his seat, collecting his thoughts. "We had a fight. I revealed some things that I've been keeping from her, and then she left for three days with essentially no communication. When she came back, she had a list of things she needed from me in order to continue the relationship written down, and while I told her that I would work on it, I knew that it wouldn't be that simple."
His therapist nodded. "I see. And Hermione? What about you? Why did you ask to come here today?"
"We've had other problems, and at Christmas I told him I couldn't keep doing this if he didn't figure out how to deal with his emotions. Part of what he admitted to me is that he's been coming here, but until now, he hasn't really been committed to changing. I'm here to support him, but also to try and understand him better."
