〈 wrong place; wrong time。 〉
,palm-yeeun:
honestly, yeeun doesn’t know how long she’s been holding the tree and weeping her heart out. all she is aware of is the fact that she’s a horrible monster that is a tree-killer that will wipe out the whole world. with the thought in mind, the tears flow faster, even to a point that snot runs down her nose. she doesn’t even care about the stares that she’s receiving – everyone in the world would understand her feelings! the locals of palm island are nice people who also care for the environment. her sniffles grow louder, before she hears a voice ask, “you… er … okay there?”
she’s too choked up to be able to speak a word, a hiccup replacing the words she intends to say. it is nice of the lady to ask her about her feelings but yeeun’s just so ashamed of herself. her cheeks painted with dried tears, snot still dripping down her nose, it takes all of yeeun’s energy to point at the tree in front of her. she’s reminded of her cousin’s advice (“let out your emotions and tell someone and you’ll feel better.”) and the lady seems like a good candidate to listen to her. after all, she had took the initative to ask her about her feelings.
however, due to too much crying, all yeeun can do is choke up the words, “tree… pollution … world ends… my fault!”
the moment she heard the latter’s reason, she widened her eyes, almost losing her grip on her things as well only to regain her composure. her words were rather vague but once she has gotten the gist of it, she began to think to herself. she has to admit, she had been littering a lot lately, when was the last time she recycled? the last time she had tried to help. her cold stature slowly falters only to find herself shaking her head.
“you’re looking way into it.” she replied, her voice stern although a small hint of her accent seeps out, embarrassed though she shrugs it off as she reached into her basket, pulling out a box of tissues before handing it to her, green and blue clad hands reaching out to whom she assumed to be a younger girl. soon, she pressed the item to the girl’s arm, trying to get her to take a break to look at her.
“please breathe.” she said out of concern, especially with the way she choked on her tiny sobs, eyes darting all around once she notices the gazes of people passing by. “take it.” she added. vera tried to sound as genuine and as friendly as possible. she always grew rather weak seeing other people in pain. she tilted her head slightly while both corners of her lips curl up into a small smile that looks like it ranges between awkward and constipated-looking.
