VERBAL ROCKET FREE DIGITAL 'MIXTAPES' Verbal Rocket was a UK fanzine that ran from 1998-2013. It now operates as a non-profit digital mixtape label, a bit like Now That's What I Call Music but free, and jam packed with independent / under the radar talent. All tracks are used with the bands permission and have featured awesome talents such as Part Chimp, White Lung, Teenage Cool Kids and Foot Village alongside upcoming bands like Dune Rats, Sauna Youth, Street Chant and Bleach Babes. Verbal Rocket on the Radio

There are tracks from the latest Verbal Rocket compilation 'Abrasive Vignettes' on several Amazing Radio shows at the moment. Los Nastys have had plays on the Breakfast show as well as on the Audition show alongside Fury Things. You can vote for either of these tracks as your and if they have the most votes then they will be A-listed on the stations playlist. Both bands are also featured as part of a Verbal Rocket triple tracker on this Saturdays Rock show alongside Pregnancy Scares. And finally the Amazing Breakfast Show has compiled a freeloader EP of four selected tracks as part of a Verbal Rocket special

My first song was called She Never Lets Me Stay. I was around 4 and my Mother wouldn't let me keep playing at my friends house. So I wrote a revenge song. It was very trippy, experimenting with time travel. It said 'She never lets me stay, and she never lets me play... in the future'.

LOU BARLOW - Think (Let Tomorrow Bee)

I wrote it in Washington DC for a woman I was staying with (this was late '91). A very intelligent, motivated person. She was working for a congressman at the time and I just hung around her apartment for two weeks. She had been dating someone else when I arrived and this guy really, really liked her (they actually married this year). He rode a motorcycle, ran a cool club, did work in the community. Kind of a superhero. Anyway, I knew my days with this woman were numbered and I guess to prove I wasn't wasting my time there (I think she even gently 'suggested' that I begin writing) I began writing 'Think' and would play her the work in progress when she came home each night. I finished it (took a day or three) and played the whole thing for her and her roommate, sitting on the floor. She commented on the fatalistic tone of the song as I remember.
