how to deal with scars
hey angels, so summer’s coming up and I know some people might be nervous about their self harm scars being revealed but can’t buy scar cream or oil or something because they can’t tell their parents what it’s for so here’s a master list of natural remedies for you beauties so you don’t have to deal with explanations 😊:
- vitamin E oil: antioxidant that helps fade scars and moisturize the skin, this is the one I use, I apply it in the morning and night and not only does make scars heal faster but it helps with redness if you have more pink scars, apply and massage for 10 minutes, leave for 15-20 minutes then wash off with warm water, repeat a few times a day, NOTE: some people may have an allergic reaction
- aloe vera: it’s a natural emollient and helps repair damaged skin and promote healthy skin growth, peel off the outer layer of the leaf and scoop out the gel, apply the gel to your scar and massage it in circular motions, leave it for 30 minutes and then wash it off, repeat twice daily NOTE: don’t apply to open wounds
- coconut oil: has vitamin E in it which accelerates healing time, and the lauric, caprylic, and capric acids stimulate collagen production which promotes healing, heat coconut oil to liquefy it, massage it into skin for 5-10 minutes, wait an hour for it to absorb, repeat 2-4 times a day
- honey: natural moisturizer and prevents the accumulation of dead skin cells and stimulates skin tissue regeneration, apply honey on the scar and leave it on overnight, the next morning wash it off with warm water, repeat daily
- honey and sugar: make scrub with equal amounts honey and crystallized sugar, apply on scars and scrub gently for 2-4 minutes, rinse off with same water, pat dry, apply moisturizer, repeat once or twice a week
- olive oil: rich in vitamin E, keeps skin soft and moisturized, for best results use extra-virgin, apply warm oil to skin and massage in a circular motion, wait 30 minutes, wipe off with clean cloth, or leave on overnight, repeat several times a day
- lemon: has alpha hydroxy acids which treat all types of scars, remove dead skin cells, promote new cell growth, improve skin elasticity, and bleaching property lightens scars, apply lemon juice on scars, or dilute the juice if skin is sensitive with rose water or vitamin E oil, wait 10 minutes, rinse w warm water, repeat once daily, NOTE: lemon can make skin photosensitive so avoid going out in sun directly after, be sure to use sunscreen on area
- baking soda: mix 5 parts baking soda with 1 part water and stir until paste is formed, massage onto scars and allow paste to dry, rinse thoroughly with warm water, repeat 2-3 times a week
- lavender oil: has rejuvenating features for skin cells, rub small amount on skin, repeat a few times a day
- natural raw cocoa butter: incredibly moisturizing and smooths the scar region to allow natural healing process to occur, rub onto scars once or twice daily
- tea tree oil: powerful anti-bacterial, should be diluted with water before being applied to skin, add small amount of oil to water to create a “soap”, wash area with soap and then rinse and dry gently, might feel some light stinging which is normal, but if it persists discontinue use
general tips to avoid scarring:
- cover cut with bandage - keep cut moist with antibiotic cream to avoid drying and scabbing - apply pressure to cut as its healing, preventing the collagen in the scar from rising up - massage the area where new skin has grown, keeping the skin loose and scar less noticeable
if any of you guys have other natural remedies please add them below, and remember, if you think you cut too deep, or it isn’t healing correctly, please please please go to the doctor or hospital, no fear of being caught is worth your life, stay safe I love you all ❤️
ryan ross: dust settles on all of us. it creates a thin line that says “forgotten”. it turns what once was blue into grey so we see no color ever again. but i will never surrender. time is no king of me. i will remember what’s forgotten, i will bring color to what once was grey and unravel the most beautiful shades.
me: ryan i’m begging you just vacuum our apartment i haven’t seen our floor in 20 days
someone: speaks louder than normal with a slightly aggressive tone me: here come the tears
*not mine*
