I've started listening to Kodaline from an website called ( indiecurrent ) whereby it features indie rock, indie folk, alternative music etc, mostly indie if you noticed. ( You might thank me if you're an indie genre lover because this website will broaden your indie songs you'll listen to! ) That explains the name of the website too, I've managed to get influences from bands like the 1975, these mortal cities, smallpools, izzy bizu, magic man, arctic monkeys etc and many more when they first debuted! But I've stop getting exposure from indiecurrent due to the fact that spotify was an easier platform for me to listen and at the same time select the songs which I would want to download into my phone. The first songs which I've taken notice of from Kodaline was High Hopes! Which they performed on the streets of Paris, here's a link I case you're interested in it. There's a really cute shih tzu in there too! Try to spot it. ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=GgswDxplkWM ) I've found it really relatable to the relationships which I had in the past, actually to tell you the truth. Most of their songs are really relatable since it's written by the band themselves whereby it accounts for the relationship that each of them has been through when they are going through the high and lows of the relationship in their younger days! There's interviews hanging around on YouTube which Steve Garrigan ( lead singer of the band ) talked about how the songs actually relate to him and the rest of the members in the band ( Mark Prendegrast, Jason Boland and Vinny May ) After listening to their first album ( In a perfect world ) I was pretty determine to catch them live in person at that moment of time. But they are usually performing in certain areas of Europe ( Glastonbury ), America and Japan( Summer Sonic ). Which made me thought of traveling there someday when I had the time and money to do it.... Till one fine day, THEY CAME TO SINGAPORE๐๐๐. Whereby they've played live on the 13th of August 2015 at scape ( the basketball court ) , the day before my lockdown due to my field camp ( it sucks to get locked for 1 week in the camp ) but in the end, the live performance by them was all worth it. They played exactly how they sound like in the albums! Was my first time in concerts too, I was glad that one of my friend actually joined me even though she didn't wanted to go at first. I guess it's due to her friends free ticket that's why she's going๐. Even though it's really hot and we had to squeeze at that moment of time, it's all worth it for me since I've always wanted to see them play live at least once. Didn't get their shirts since it's kinda expensive.... Was not willing to spend like 50/60 dollars for just one piece of shirt too. But well, I didn't regret it in the end so it's all worth it. They didn't play one of the songs that I really liked though, it's called "the answer" and this is how it goes, Watch your step or you might fall You act like you're a know-it-all Yeah I used to do that, I used to be like that I'm still a bit like that You might think you found the one Until your heart gets ripped and torn Yeah I used to feel bad, I used to feel like that I still feel a bit like that But I'm not searching for the answer I'm not looking for the truth I'm just talking through a speaker Because that's all that I have ever learned to do Use your mind and make it talk Cause in this world it's all you've got We all fall down from the highest clouds to the lowest ground The loneliness is worst of all When you've got no one else to call Feeling kind of sad when the times are bad, the times are getting bad But I'm not searching for the answer No, I'm not looking for the truth I'm just talking through a speaker Because that's all that I could ever learn to do Because that's all that I have ever learned to do What about you?... So watch your step or you might fall You act like you're a know-it-all Yeah I used to do that, I used to be like that I'm still a bit like that It's actually the lyrics here but if you wanna see them play live, here's the link to it! ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lCEZS9OPpPM ) If you felt that they are really good looking or their songs are relatable to you in anyway, I'll strongly encourage you to listen to their songs when you're having some free time of your own :) P.s: they do have their second album called "coming up for air" too! Go listen to it!
