Starlight was still so novel. 

Even after three years of celebrating it, Rhysa still couldn’t help but get excited whenever Starlight rolled around. The house — to Vasir’li’s horror — was bedecked head to toe in lights and wreaths and bells. Whatever festive decorations she could get her hands on, and being friends with Hoshi, that meant she had a lot of options.

Like the glittering star she currently held in her hands, balanced precariously on one of the barstool’s as she stretched onto her tip-toes to fit it atop the tree she’d badgered her fiancé into getting. His crew had been the one to set it up, but it was the thought that counted. 

“A-ha!” Her victorious declaration was echoed by a delighted babble from the playpen nearby, Nyrah giggling and clapping at her Mama’s success. It bloomed a pleased smile across the snowy-haired Keeper face, peering over her shoulder to make a silly face at her daughter — and wobbling precariously on the stool, yelping as she lost her balance. She tucked her chin and squeezed her eyes shut in preparation for the fall…

…That didn’t come?

Arms curled under her legs and behind her back, prompting her to peek one eye open — and beaming up at the familiar visage of Vasir’li. He stared down at her with very mild amusement, tinged in a dash of exasperation, as she hooked an arm around his neck and made herself quite comfortable in the impromptu princess-carry. 

“You’ve really got me falling for you this Starlight—” “I’d hate t’have to drop you, Sass.” 

The deadpan note to his voice set her to giggling, pulling herself up to press one, two, three kisses to the scruff lining his jaw. For good measure. 

“Merry Starlight, Feathers.” “Aye, aye, Merry Starlight. I trust you’ll not spend the whole of it falling off stools?” 

The barest of smirks met an unrepentant grin; amused silver to delighted blue. 

“I make no promises.”

This is a meet-and-greet style event designed around camping out in Rhalgr’s Reach. It is hosted every 3rd Friday of the month. There will be an assortment of games, drinks and snacks, the opportunity to tell bardic stories around a fire, etc! We hope that you’ll consider joining us.

Parlor Games! This event features a handful of various games of chance. Characters are also encouraged to bring their own games so that we have a wide variety. Games may be things like, “Gils (quarters),” “Ale Pong,” “Dice,” etc!

Gauntlet Training! Have you wanted to participate in the Gyr Abanian Gauntlet but you don’t know how to? Is your character an amateur fighter with big dreams? Rhalgr’s Respite will provide lessons on how to participate in the Gauntlet before that month’s Fight Night!

Services Encouraged! Not all Ala Mhigans are punchpunch centric and that’s okay! You want to come vend wares? Offer healing to anyone who may be bruised up? Maybe your character is great at cooking? Wherever your character’s talents may lie, join us for a night of respite!

Storytelling! We’re going to be hosting some round robin-esque bardic entertainment. We encourage performers of all  kinds to join us. Want to tell a story? Sing? Dance? Maybe you have performance macros? Whatever the case may be we hope that you’ll come share your talents (or your memes) with us!

RP Hooks for Anti-Social Characters

AKA How To Reel In Dem RPers with Tasty RP Bait.  If you also play a quiet, shy, or anti-social character, feel free to add your own hooks.

1) Have an injury. One that’s not so serious where your character looks foolish for not getting immediate medical attention, but also noticeable enough where someone with a healer-type or mother-hen character might want to strut on over and patch you up.

2) Turn on RP Flag and have notable things people can use for interaction in your Search Info - Put in your character’s noticeable scar. Put in the unusual artifact they’re carrying that would make all the mages in a half-mile radius go ‘wtf is WITH THAT AETHER HOLY SHITE’. Put the strange marking they have on their throat. Put in that half their horn is missing.  I personally haven’t done this yet, but I’ve had friends with anti-social characters report success stuffing notable details about their character or even the URL to their RPC wiki directly into their search info.  People walked up and commented on something they’d read like a necklace or physical attribute. If you dump in an RPC wiki, just make sure all of your RP hooks are easy for people to find. (Mine is actually a bad example because it’s one log slog :V)

3) Be chased or followed. If your character’s backstory lends to them being chased or followed, and they’re the kind of person who would react very noticeably - it could be a neat way to entice other people to get involved.  Bonus points if you’re willing to RP NPC henchfolks actually coming after you.

4) Mistaken identity. Confuse a random player for someone else, friend, foe, or even just a secret contact for a job. Maybe you’re supposed to meet someone at x-location, wearing y-item, to get something important.

5) Have a wing man. My alt, Leilani Leilai - is a bright, outgoing, cheerful character who wants nothing more than to hunt down potentially legendary adventurers and hear all of their amazing stories so she can turn them into epic ballads. Placing her right next to a quieter, more anti-social character gives us a ton of interaction material that makes it way, WAY easier for the anti-social character to get involved in RP. So grab your friend who plays their wacky social-butterfly character and ask them to be your wingman into RP.  (OR you can send me a message and I’ll jump onto Leilani Leilai if I’m free I SHALL BE YOUR WINGPOPOTO.)  A wing man is especially useful during RP events instead of trying to solicit walk-ups or going to a place like the Quicksand.

6) Look for help with [insert task here] - as quiet/shy/anti-social as your character might be, there are things they can’t do by themselves and need other people for.  Maybe have them look for a healer or alchemist to assist them in mending some sort of injury or illness that they can’t handle themselves.  Have them look for a smith that can fix their broken armor or blade.  Have them look for a temporary partner to go with them on a mercenary contract they realised will definitely need at least two people to accomplish and they’re willing to split half the profits.
