Bear with Me || Veronica&Aiden
Aiden listens intently to Veronica’s questioning, trying to focus on the tone of her voice instead of the slight headache that still lingers in the back of his mind. At the first question, the wolf’s head lifts, leaving Aiden a bit woozy but wanting to nod up and down rather than do what he had been told. Once he remembers that his tail is the one in question, he places his head back down and lifts his tail into the air.
Veronica’s next question confuses Aiden yet again, but in a different way. Wouldn’t she remember me? He thinks, a bit of self-consciousness wracking his mind. But then he remembers that he is in his wolf form, and again, hardly any humans have seen him like this. His tail quickly goes up in the air again, the white and grey fur flicking through the open air like a fan.
The wolf’s patience was waning thin, however, with all of these questions, and Aiden quickly sits up on his hind leg and lifts up a paw, trying to tell Veronica that he is about to show her something.
Slowly, the wolf traces out an ‘A’ on the floor, taking every few moments to glance up at Veronica’s reaction. Hopefully that’s enough to give his identity away, though he would have loved to stick around and play a guessing game if the headache wasn’t there and he didn’t have business to attend to — though the wolf soon realized that it would be a while before he could get back to work.
When she sees his tail wag through the air, Veronica smiles. So she's met him before. It's obvious who this must be in that case. Though she's briefly met a few people in town, only one she knows that admitted to being a werewolf. Before she realises it, the wolf lifts himself back into a seated position and begins to trace a letter with his front paw. Veronica watches, careful not to miss any motions and she sees that he writes an 'A'.
"Aiden!" Veronica feels a jolt of excitement at having guess correctly and surprise at knowing that it's the town's bar owner. Though she doesn't know what exactly put him in the damaged state she'd found him in, she is worried as to why he wasn't able to put distance between himself and the other creature before they could batter him up so completely.
With a wide smile, Veronica sits up as well. "Well glad to have that mystery solved. It's nice to meet you in wolf form, Aiden. Though I suppose these aren't exactly the greatest circumstances." She grins and then glances down at herself, seeing the blood stains on her blue top. It's unfortunate but she doesn't mind the mess. At least now she's not alone in the apartment. Veronica looks back to Aiden and then adds, "But given the circumstances, you're going to have to stick around here for at least the night for observation. Especially since you can't speak and tell me if there's anything else that needs healing, I don't want to risk you collapsing or worsening an internal injury by going back out there tonight."
Getting to her feet, Veronica considers whether to put him in the overnight observation room for the night or just let him join her in her bedroom. After what happened with Celeste earlier, the doctor knows she isn't getting to sleep any time soon but the thought of the more sterile environment of the clinic hall doesn't exactly appeal to her at the moment either.
With a final shrug, she looks down at Aiden. "You can stay in my room with me tonight. If you can walk alright, go ahead in there," she points to the open doorway leading to the bedrooom, "And I'll go get a few things from the clinic. Then I'll join you." She turns to head out of the apartment but turns just before she reaches the door, saying with a grin, "Just no funny business on my bed, bud."
Then she steps out into the hall, closing her apartment door behind her before letting out a heavy sigh. Tonight is certainly been a challenge both physically and emotionally. And it isn't over yet.
