first day wearing a mask again!! i feel so bad that its taken me this long to start wearing a mask in public again but i decided to educate myself more on what i can do for the health of my community (such as immunocompromised people or people like my aunt who are allergic to certain vaccines)

wearing a mask doesnt have to be boring!! my mask is just a standard covid mask doubled up with a keffiyeh design, lace, a button, and a butterfly charm :D

A series I'm making on disability/disabled characters AND fashion!

Because we can be cute or attractive, we can be fashionable, while being disabled!

I try my best to be informed on the conditions I do not have, if you have corrections, feel free to comment them!

This is Paloma! A ''Himekaji Gyaru/Kogal'' inspired OC.

She/her. 17 y.o.

Mexican.

Cisgender woman, bisexual.

Uses a back brace/posture corrector.

Spondylolysis that became a Spondylolisthesis, she also has a stutter.

Artistic gymnast, that's where her Spondylolysis came from. She used to compete in global & local competitions. Paloma used to aim for the Olympics. She knows it takes time to recover, but the passion for the sport wins her over. After practicing, the pain got worse, leaving her resting for more time.

While she's resting, and not doing gymnastics, she likes to crochet and paint!

what a cutieee!!! first time ever seeing a character with my disability everything about the design is so cute and i love her backstory as someone who had spondylolisthesis develop due to overworking myself in musical theatre (along with it being a degenerative disorder)

corecivic is a private prison company that got shut down in leavenworth kansas after trump's first administration due to violations.

they have their reviews hidden from the public but if you go on any job review website like indeed you see a flood of negative reviews talking about how both staff and residents were allegedly mistreated

corecivic has been trying to REOPEN the same facility to hold new ice detainees

EVERY TUESDAY UNTIL CITY COUNCIL HAS MADE A DECISION THERE WILL BE PROTESTS. immigrants have always been here for leavenworth corecivic has failed us every time.

i have been physically disabled officially for 3 years now (huzzah!!) scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, L5 fused with my pelvis, and bpd!! i am proud of everything i have because being disabled isnt shameful!! even if i can set down my crutches for a few minutes to take photos doesn't mean im any less disabled than when i use them.

fashion will always be political. my outfit was inspired by the palestinian flag!! 🇵🇸

i also have 3 handmade buttons including an original character wearing a hijab with a keffiyeh design, the palestinian flag, and a button with red poppies (palestinian symbol of resistance) saying 'say no to genocide'

next to my buttons i also have a small watermelon charm

while it may seem like small activism i did get a few questions on the buttons and an opportunity to educate ❤️
